I want to replace the drive in my 360. I found out that you can't just swop them. Someone gave me this information below. Does anyone know how to do this?

There is software and instructions available on the net to
extract the key from the DVD drive as well as flash a DVD drive. You
would run the extract against the DVD drive to fetch the key ( a BIN
file) and then flash your DVD drive with the BIN then the motherboard
and your DVD drive would be matched.

what drive is it? and are you putting in exactly the same drive?
you will need to get the original firmware off of your drive first for this to work.
there are different ways to do this depending on what drive you have so more info would be helpful.

Sorry,Its a Hitachi GDR-3120L. I think this is the only drive I can replace it with. Flashing confuses me on how thats done or what to use.

now that XB360 warranty has been extended to 3 yrs, M$oft is looking out for its gamers. Should be np in case something gets flubbed. That is a sweet guide, makes me want to buy a 360. Thanks bhetrick.
