I have heard that you need a differently wired null modem cable for starview the box is this true? What do I ask for when buying this cable I have downloaded the gtrom file also version 4 and 4.5 bin flies but keep getting flash update failed my only hope know is that I have the wrongly wired cable.

No it is the same cable you use. It is a DB9F to DB9F null modem cable. As showm here:
