M$ has started to offer a three year warranty on the 360. Call them and see if the 360 is registered yet, if it has not been it should be under warranty if it is with in the three years :)

the towel trick may work for a bit but will probably do more damage to your console!
there are other things to try, searh google for xclamp replacement

thats if you can't send it back to m$

as above, if you mean out of warranty simply because it is more than a year old, then you are in luck as MS has recentlt extended the hardware failure warranty to 3 years. So they will fix it for free if it is under 3 years old.

If you modded it then I would suggest the X-Clamp Replacement...

It has worked for the majority of people and will only set ya back

$15 to $20... otherwise if not modded like everyone says

call M$ and they will send ya something to ship it to them and fix

it for free...

Seeing how the warranty is now 3 years for the red ring errors and the Xbox 360 was originally released in November 2005, every single 360 is covered. Unless you void it, of course.

That is fine but I would ask that people don't reply with comments and just reply with pertinent info. I would actually make a thread so I can keep count and being the first post it would make it easier to see the numbers.

If anyone would like that then post a yes or whatever HERE IN THIS thread so I can see if it would be "sticky" material.

I've had mine for about a year, and i got the 3 red lights yesterday. I dont know if its just a coincidence but i upgraded to media center edition on my pc which is connected to my xbox in the network and i was having problems with MCE crashing and not working properly on my PC, a few hours after that i turned on my xbox and was listening to music and halfway through a song the xbox froze and i had to turn it off with the power button, tried turning back on and it would get to the startup screen and then freeze, after about 4-5 more times of trying to turn it on i finally got the 3 red lights of death, now it wont even display the xbox screen, and about 2 seconds after i try turning it on you can hear a weird noise coming from inside the xbox. Do you guys think its a coincidence that my xbox kicked the bucket a few hours after installing MCE?

i just finished doing the x clamp replacement and so far everything is back to working fine, no lites of death, and it only cost me $6 in materials from the local lowes, thank god for the internet and people who take the time to post the info on how to fix these problems.
