There has to be a way to do this. All I've been hearing lately is how you can only play the games with Custom Firmware. However, there are people who download the games via PS3 and play them on their PSP. How do they do this?! I have Crash Bandicoot 3 with a valid KEYS.BIN file.

The ones you download off the PS3 Store thing are formatted to run on your PSP only i believe, i think that is why they can't be distributed to everyone else.

You need a custom firmware to play them.

Sorry for the double post. I have it in the GAME folder, but every time I try to play it (on 3.03 with Devhook), it says, 'To use this content, you must activate the system.' ?!

You need a PS3 to activate your PSP. If you have a PS3 its easy to set up.

You can still play PSX games if you have a custom firmware.

I know, but I don't want to get it.

But I guess this means I'll have to...

Oh well.

How come? Worried about bricking your PSP? Those warnings you see on downgraders and stuff are really something YOU have to ignore, since really, you are the only one who can brick your PSP. Its a very simple process and i have never had problem downgrading a PSP and upgrading to a custom firmware.

Umm, actually even with ps3, you'll need OFFICIAL firmware 3.03 or above to play psx games. And your eboot will not work, only ones you paid for from PSN will.

I agree with Midnightj completely. Upgrade to OE is same as upgrade to official firmware. Recovery menu makes it very difficult to have a brick.

Here's a easy installer for 3.40oe, first posted by midnightJ,
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/500493

#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...
