You downloaded the undub version around the net. I wish the original can do that.

Stupid question here by me but are the menus in English? If it's the Japan version, the box art should be similar to this. If it's indeed the NTSC region version, or the US version of Tales of the Abyss, the boxart should be similar to this.

Your friend possesses perhaps the rarest version of Tales of the Abyss: the English translations for everything from menus to in-game text and has the Japanese voice cast mistakenly left on it instead of the English voice actors. That's the only thing I can think of that could be the case of your friend possessing an authentic US copy of Tales of the Abyss yet it has Jap voices instead of the English cast (I bet a lot of the purist fans of the game will request you up it illegally).

The original game has no option to switch between audio tracks. The undub version of Tales of the Abyss I'm talking about is easy to notice by playing through it and see if there is a segment in the game where it's completely silent because there are known syncing issues in the undub version where the game will go totally deaf for a period of time. Are you simply making a backup of his backup or are you doing a direct copy from the authentic copy your friend has?

Since you have the original game your friend bought, does it too have the same problem? Jap voices instead of the English cast (asking as a confirmation)? The impression I'm getting is your making a backup of the ISO from a backup version of your friends which so happens to be the undub version, but you're not making an ISO out of the original you said you have. If this is indeed true that your original has the Jap voice with everything translated, I'd gladly trade my original for yours if you really must have the English voices instead of the Japanese voice actors.

Edit: What's the ISO size of the game?

Does anyone know how long exactly the silent/messed up part is?
I heard it was like 2-3 hours, until Inista Marsh.
I'm now past that, back in Sheridan after well over 3 hours since it got out of sync and still it's either messed up without fix or silent with fix.

Thanks.

PS: The iso was about 4.6 GB (undub).
