Hi i have a PSP running 2.81 firmware , can i downgrade using the TA-082 downgrader or do i have to upgrade to like 3.03 and downgrade from there?

Almost same procedure. All depends on which umd you can get.

#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe

u could just buy lumines and use the 3.50 downgrader. what ever is cheaper.
