Ok, just for the record, I'v read and looked for answers, but there is just too much information on this forum, and half of which I dont understand. I dont have alot of experience on this stuff, but I know how to make an image and burn it, but I dont know if my settings are correct.
Here is my problem;
Just got a pstwo with a crystal chip 1.2. and I borrowed a bunch of backed up games from a mate to test is all where good. Some games workes perfectly, most games dont start and some start with problems. These are all diffrent types of media, from verbatim to princo.
I burned two games myself on a princo dvd and both fail to boot. I read that princo isnt the best media. In the PS2 browse menu it sais it recognise it as playstation 2 game, but when I start it the screens goes black and the ps2 makes struggling noice. I assume my mate has tried all the games on his ps2 and he has no problems. So could it be my chip that is failing to load? Or could this just be because bad media? Its about 2 out of 10 games that starts and workes. Is there some sort of settings on the chip that I need to tweak alittle?
I made the backup of a game by using nero to create an image and burned that on dvd-r princo disk with 1x write speed. I can do it again and again to see if its bad media, but I was kinda hoping there was some other solution. Specialy since I have many games here that workes on other ps2 but not on mine. My ps2 cant even read some of my mates games.
Since im here, when i bought the ps2 with mod it said I could change the settings so that it could play divx and mp3. Anyone know how to do that?
I feel I violating every rule you have on the forum, so I must apologize. Iv read the topic on this kinda of problem, so maybe this post should be there. It just bugs me that the playstation recognize the disk as a ps2 game and dosnt start it.
Hopeing for a quick response. In advance, thanks.

and media makes a big difference so the only way to tell if the media is the problem is to buy some Verbatim 8X DVD-R and try those.
Cleaning your laser may also help, but read a guide so you know what your doing first.
Well, all good now. And all thanks to better media. Verbatim dvd-r workes perfectly. I had no idea media could play such a big part. Anyway, thanks alot to the forum and for the help:)
