Ok i tried burning 2 games: Gitaroo Man and san andreas

if i remember right i burned them at either 2x, 4x or, 8x.

gitaroo man doesnt work. it loads but the screen is black.

san andreas worked but it was black and white because of pal. so i used this program to convert it to ntsc to make it colorful. it loaded fine, but at the title screen it would freeze and wouldnt ever go past that.

ive burned 2 other games, which works fine. why wont gitaroo man or san andreas?

im using Dvd+r disks cause thats all i can use and booktyping wont work. im using maxell disks. im thinking its because maxell sucks. my friend just game me verbatims today. would it work if i used verbatim and burned them at 2x?

Most likely, if you cannot get the current media you are using to work with your PS2 appropriately, one of the best solutions is to simply change DVD media brands like you are trying. While I was simply dissatisfied with the performance of Sony DVDs and typically gotten poor results, someone else had incredibly marvelous results using the same brand. But foremost, usually good quality brands will work better overall no matter what it's being read by like Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden. I regard Verbatim very highly but personally I rather take Taiyo Yuden, however, both are good nonetheless and you should be fine with picking either one. As for the burn speed, it depends on various factors but the rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disc. Burn it at what worked best for you.

You can use DVD+R but some PS2's will have a problem with them, which is why he posted that so don't get all snippy about it.
1.Some suggestions would be to get San Andreas for your own region since converting it may have caused it not to work.
2.update your burners firmware
3. Burn the game at 4X speed
4. Try a different media like Verbatim
5. If all else fails spend $40 and get a good burner like the BenQ 1670 which can burn both +R and -R and booktype.
