This was the first time I've encountered this version of the Wii.

I'm still looking for a solution to this!

If you look carefully, you can see that the solder point to the right is MIA !!!

Just a thought but wouldn't it make sense to just follow the lead from the old install pics and solder the last point that is missing to the 5th lead from the right side of the chip. one pin to the right of where you filed away. I don't know? but it makes sense to me? i'm guessing that it should work seeing how that that's where the old one sent a signal to.
let us know what happens

;}VERY NICE

Yikes! Where did you get this Wii? Did you buy it recently, and if so what store? (I'm planning to buy a Wii from circuit city on Sunday, hopefully i'll get an original D2B!)

I'm sorry to the right of ??. I have yet to open my wii LU519.... I want to mod my wii. Not worried about cut pins but now I am concerned about D2C chips and now what is this? My real reason to the mod is so the Kids will scratch the copies not originals. Doesnt this all stand under the Digital Rights to back up your own software?

you can see the differene by comparing the pictures posted earlier with the pictures posted later.

if you look carefully, you can see that point number 3 is missing from the earlier pictures.

Normally, the section of the drive that has the three close soldering points looks like this:

oo
ooo
_o

In the new Wiis, it looks like in the picture above, or like this:

oo
oo
_o

As you can see, the far right solder point is "missing in action". This only affects the Wiikey, however, no other modchip requires this solder point.

WIIWONWON,

Your soldering job looks great.
Just a quick question since you have photos of 2 different jobs...
I see that you dremeled in the first photo but how did you reattach the legs in the 2nd job (wiiwonwon chip)??? Did you not use the dremel in the 2nd job? Any tips on doing this? wire size? etc.?

Thanks,
