"PS2 Game Back-up/Copy" Questions for PS3.

1. Is there any way to play copied PS2 games on PS3 without opening up the PS3?
2. What is Firmware and how do I use it with Swap Magic?
3. Is "Games X Copy" any good?
4. Does the type of DVD (-R, +R, RW) matter?
5. Any free methods?

I'll add more questions if I need to. Thanks for any help you can offer.

There's no way you can do that yet. Probably when they come out with a mod chip or a soft mod like swapmagic for ps3.

1. u can play ps2 backups if u wanna open up the ps3 its in the sticky section look at the swap switch tutorial

2. im not sure if there is a firmware restriction but u dont need swap magic for the swap switch

3. for backing up games i use dvd decrypter or alcohol 120%

4. im pretty sure u cant use rewritables

5. dvd decrypter if free

Yes, you can use rewritables (DVD-RW). I use them all the time to test patched games (PAL to NTSC).

What do you need to know?

1) Use DVD decrypter in read mode. Make the iso file from the ps2 disc.
2) Next use Nero or Alcohol 120% and burn the iso to a blank dvd. It is vital to use quality media, and to burn the game with dvd-rom booktype mode.
