I just started getting this problem about a week after I do my burns. I use the Taiyo Yuden +R discs all the time and burn at 4x. What occurs is when I play the movie on my home theater system the picture is excellent but the sound will drop out and come back.

I'm thinking that my dvd player could be on it's way out. Any suggestions?

This may not seem too far off base if you have kids. Trust me on that one. Have you tried using a lens cleaner(please us a good brand)?

Try those backed up discs on ANOTHER PC or home theater. This will at least tell you where you stand.

I will definitely do that this evening when I get in. I just remembered that there's another dvd player in my spare bedroom collecting dust.

You might wanna clean that dvd player too, a dvd player or cd player for that matter that dosen't get used much actually collect more dust on the lens than a well used player.
