OK,

I just purchased a PSP and want to start downgrading it.

So here's my questions:
1. If I have firmware 3.51 => am I screwed? or can I still downgrade it to 1.5?

2. Do I need GTA or Lumines original game to use during the downgrade?

3. Does it matters which PSP motherboard I have? How can I determine the version of motherboard PSP has?

Any replies is greatly appreciative. Thanks

1 You're screwed, so everything else else is pretty much answered. And there are tutorials on how to downgrade 3.50 on the forum.

I know there's a beta 3.51 downgrader, but here's what I would do:

Go to any pawnshop and see if you can swap. Be honest with them and tell them you're a PSP hacker and you can't work w/ this FW. Assure them there's nothing wrong w/ it and they can test it all they like. One may think a PSP from a pawnshop is crap, but I just got one by trading in my TV b/c I had previously bricked and the one I got is actually in BETTER condition than the one I bricked. Pawnshops are secret goldmines sometimes.

I just check and my PSP says its software version is 3.40

GOOD NEWS??

So, now onward to question #2 => do I need GTA or Lumines to do the downgrade?

It is good news. There are the steps so follow them correctly.

1. Go download the 3.50 update from this link: http://dl.qj.net/PSP-Firmware-3.50-(Nort...13840/catid/163
and put this in your memstick.

2. Run the update.

3. After confirming that you have a 3.50 psp go download the universal 3.50 downgrader from here http://dl.qj.net/Universal-3.50-HEN-Down...14137/catid/151

4. Now this is important. The game that you need is the original game Lumines. Remember that. After you have that follow the steps in the README txt file. Hopefully after that you have a 1.50 psp.

You need a copy of Lumines 1 that doesn't have a 3.51 update.
