Is there a tutorial on how to flash this drive? If so where can I find it? Also I am going to need the team executer blaster thingy or will it connect via SATA the way my samsung did when I flashed it?
You will need the Xecuter X79, not the blaster 360, as the last time I checked, its only for hitachi v46, v47, v59 and v78, and both samsung drives, ms 25 and 28. The X79 modhas to be soldered then you can flash the drive using the toolbox app. Its different compared to samsung drives, you flash samsung drives using command promt via mtkflash, but you flash hitachi drives from windows command promt, after getting the drive into mode b by using a particular method.
http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/details/id=61.html The guide in that link is really good, I think you should read through it, as the method for flashing a v78 is similar to flashing a v79, but you will need the hardware mod to get the drive into mode b and allow it to be flashed through software as the other drives are.

It seems that the news posted regarding a software only method to flash the Hitachi v79 drive was incorrect and a hardware mod is still required after all - so the X79 mod is back on track !
We have finished 3 of the 4 firmwares and will finish the design this week. The X79 will suppor all Hitachi v79 versions and will enable the drive to automatically switch to modeb and then you can read and write the firmware using software (like the Maximus Toolbox).
The RRP of the mod is set at $15 and you will be able to buy it shortly from most good stockists.

So Now that its not out or comming out anytime soon where can i buy the 79 pass key? Because this is just ridiculous.
