but is there any risk of ruining the system if you flash the 360 for backps and if there is how much of a risk is it. my friend is getting a 360 but the more he hears about the work that goes into flashing it the less he wants to do it and the dbag also insists that a modchip is needed which i know its not

Well as I see it flashing can be dangerous wink wink ,but has been proved 100% positive as long as you know what you are doing you will be fine. As of modchips the modchips currently(nme-360,globe360,etc.) are just dvd drive chips that most of them have to be flash as well.
