While you have the downtime, and you are doing some reading, might I suggest you look at the guides prepared by one of the AD members named bbmayo? (Can't seem to get a link to work). I used his guides and they are topnotch. Some other members here have also put together some excellent guides.

thanks again and yes, i am reading those guides.
i believe someone put me in touch with them early on in this problem.
had i known about this site earlier/before i started this project, i believe i wouldn't be where i am today. hindsight and all.
as someone either mentioned here or in another post somewhere in the forum section, having several windows open to completely understand all that is being absorbed is crucial in order to do everything correctly. personally, i read better off a printed page than on screen and so the guides have been printed and the glossary page is opened for my understanding of terms.

If you got the AnyDVD and CloneDVD2, and you bought them and not in the 21-day trial, you will receive automatic updates via email. I got one the other day for AnyDVD, and actually just finished my 3rd update of the week abut 5 minutes ago.

IF you Downloaded Rit4me. No more updates will be coming, but it handles 99and44 one hundreds of the movies out there.

Dvdfab HD decrypter Plat. will need up-dating (You Bought it so those will be free for Life)

Shrink, No new up-dates.

Dvd Decrypter, No new up-dates.

I Don't see any need to purchase ANYDVD Unless you Have EXTRA money laying around. If you are only going to Back-up 25 movies, it would be a waste of money. But IS a Great Program.

I'm Very happy that you are up and running again.

ha-ha, you'll be proud to know that i was able to get around a problem at 2am. new copy of aladdin run through dvddecrypt was saved to hdd but wouldn't read on dvdshrink--titles don't come up.
anyway, opened up dvdplat and dvddecrypt and it was good to go! (patting self on back) thanks to the "education" i've received on here.

now i have a dual layer writer but need to purchase some dvd-dl's,
for the longer movies, i'm assuming that the programs will handle or do i need something special. from what i'm reading--i'm still a bit uncertain.
