Hi,

I just installed a WiiKey in my console. The first game I've tried (RE4) worked fine, but the next two games that I've tried did not:

1. Elebits : the disc is not recognized
2. Big Brain Academy : the disc is recognized, but locks at startup

I've found this wiki which summaries the compatibility issues between regions:

http://wiki.gbatemp.net/index.php?title=...patibility_List

but I did not find any website that will tell me which backups actually works within the same region. Are every same-region backups supposed to work? If not, will the soon-to-be-released upgrade will help?

Many thanks,
Martin

Every game that is the same region as your console should work fine.

Alright. My only game that works was burned on a DVD-R and the other two on DVD+R. I suppose this could be an explanation...

Thanks for the hint!

I have turn the region override on..... (but it appeared to be turned off after reenter to menu. It say it is that way..... ) but I have no luck in running the other region disc.

One question, after turn on the region override, do you press the reset configuration on the menu. then off the power.........

@elite22sg

If you choose ON under the region override option on the Wiikey setup disc and then save the region override is ON.

It will still show off when inserting the setup disc which is normal. It does this due to the stealth mode of the Wiikey itself.

All settings are showed as default but as long as you change a setting and saved it the setting is actually the setting you saved it as.

Great Larry

I have seen your posts and help in other. I really need your help this time.

I have question on the Brickblocker.exe ver 1.3. I have many other regions game and a semi-bricked JAP WII machine . Do you meant that I have to perform image dump of the original disk (in which I am trying hard to get a LG drive), then validate the .ISO file with BB.exe. finally, burn to the DVD???. I think this is the method.
As quoted ?2) There is a new program out called Wii Brick Blocker. You can run this on the Game ISO to patch it. It changes a string on the Game Disc which disables the update feature on the game disc. ?

Alternative, I can download .ISO using torrent (in which I am still struggling to make the open port works).

Wah?.. then I will not be able to create any region free WII game, since I have no drive, torrent not working???..ANY OTHE WAY ROUND ?

Then what is the PATCH.ISO in the directory for???? ?? do I have to burn this file to a DVD...... but the size is only 2MB.

Is it possible to burn one pre-installed DVD to work like BB (to stop the region switch), then load the other region GAME DISC. Correct me if I am wrong?.. I have to incorporate the BB into the .ISO game disc.

Just thinking for those game that display ?hang? like the list in compatibility list, is that a way to avoid the hang with some code write to the .ISO?? maybe the new revision of the Brickblocker can do it.

Thanks

Wii Brick Blocker will disable the Update that is on the Game Disc if it has 1.

All you do is load the Wii ISO (from a dumped file with an LG drive or a torrent download) then Wii Brick Blocker will patch the Wii ISO changing a string in the ISO image disabling the update that is on the game disc.

You do not use the LG drive to make the Wii ISO region free. You will either need a Modchip with region override (Wiikey) or use some sort of region free patcher program (RegionFrii/WiigionFree).

The PATCH.ISO has the information in it that changes the update string to disable it. You do not have to do anything to it. Just run Wii brick Blocker and patch the Wii Game Disc ISO and burn that.

In order to disable the update on the game disc you will need to run Wii Brick Blocker on every ISO Game that you either dump or download.

That list is a region compatibility list. If the list says the disc ?hang? on an out of region Wii system then that means it is not compatible with your Wii system. There is nothing you can do to fix this issue. You will need to dump/download the game that is the same region as your Wii system.

I assume you are talking about the list in Wiki ....

Well.. just want to ask, what if you apply things like RegionFrii/WiigionFree to a "import" ISO ie a NTSC-J ISO, burn it, will it play on a NTSC-US Wii ?

The list is actually a compatibility list for region patching software in the first place. It just happens that people with Modchips can also follow that list as well.
