I just downloaded the new Mac Aqua XMB. I copied all the ".rco" files and the ".bmp" file to resources, and the ".pgf" to fonts. I booted up the system and it did not display the waves (not even the standard PSP waves), nor did it have any audio when booting. I had to convert the ".bmp" to a ".jpg" and manually set it as background. I shouldn't have to and at least the standard waves should appear on boot. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? 3.40 OE-A.

Try resizing the bmp to 10 pixels smaller.. It messes up sometimes.

Thanks. I got it working perfectly now. By the way, where do I install the ".bmp" file. I'm getting tired of converting them into ".jpg" and manually setting them as my background. Thanks in advance.

The 01-12? Just boot into recovery mode, then go to Advanced and plug your USB in. Then hit toggle flash0 usb and find it like you'd find your memory stick. Then Put it in this folder; VSH->RESOURCE/(here). Overwrite the old 01-12.

Warning: DO NOT delete anything from any of these folders, without knowing what it is. Since you know you are replacing the background that is fine. But NEVER under any circumstances delete stuff from there for fun. You will render your PSP useless.

The weird thing is, I copied over the default "01-12.bmp" and the background screen is blank (white). I converted the file to ".jpg" and its the image I wanted. I tried to open "01-12.bmp" in Photoshop CS3 and it gives me an error, so I have to assume that the ".bmp" is what I want based on the converted image. Any reason why it's doing this? Thanks glenquag by the way for helping.

were you just getting a white screen, but you could see the icons after you loaded the files in the resource folder?

If thats the case, go to "theme settings" in the psp menu, and scroll to the second one down (its a single picture under "original")your background should then show up-most custom themes only have one background-they dont change month to month like the stock xmb colors.

If you have a topmenu_plugin.rco that is not compatible with your firmware-it can semi-brick..Thats why its a good idea to keep your originals in a safe place on your computer so you can transfer them back if need be.

Thats right...Like I said, its usually the topmenu_plugin.rco file that causes trouble-And theres really no need to go into the KD folder anyway, but just make sure you dont accidently delete the recovery.prx-otherwise you are screwed-

Its what you see when you look at your psp menu...

Its the icons, the text under the icons, and the way they are set up..So if you get a topmenu_plugin.rco from a different firmware (ex:3.03) its not going to work if you have 3.40OE..it will cause your psp to crash because there are different features in 3.40 than the ones on 3.03-3.11 firmwares..
