All the custom firmwares (CFW) offer a recovery mode where you hold R and turn the psp on. There is an option to:

"Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP"

this option is used to let people run the 1.50 update file to downgrade back to the the basic $ony firmware and 'start again'.

Alot of people have found the problem (looking at several forums around the net) where you can't get this option to work. Thing is even the latest M33 CFW's offer this but neglected to include necessary files to do it. If you go to www.psp-hacks.com and find DarkAlex's 3.02OE custom firmware it will include a recovery folder that needs to be used on your memory stick so that you have a /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/ folder. And then you need to download the 1.50 eboot.pbp and rename it to update.pbp and put it in the recovery folder.

Hope this helps anyone who's had trouble
