Hello all,

This is my first post and I would like to say that I have learned a lot from everyone. Keep up the good work!!

My problem is when I turn on my psp I get a black screen.
The green power light is still on as well as the yellow memory light flashing like it's reading memory card.

The only way I can make it work is by going into recovery mode and then exiting. After I do that it boots up fine.

What could be the problem?

Thanks,

Mav

I've never heard of this problem, it's sort of a semi-brick, yet you can still access th XMB by going through recovery. So obviously it's unstable, so treat it like a semi-brick. If you've ever backed up your flash0 the reflash that, if not, try and get it off someone else, or try and reflash your firmware.

I figured it out!!

I had Autorun Program at PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP = ENABLED

I just disabled it, and it works fine.

Thanks for the suggestion Shokz :)
I will make a backup flash0 just in case something else happens...

Haha, never thought of that, but yes, always have a backup of your flash0 on your pc where you can find it.

I must have semi-bricked around 50 times in my psp life and each time the backup's there to get it working again! (I'm always trying out things that alter flash0)

Sounds like it's just to do with your topmnu_plugin.rco file, if you go into recovery, flash0, and put your default sony topmenu_plugin.rco back then it should work.

it might be because the topmenu rco was for 3.03 oe-c, do you know what firmware it was for?

1.5>>3.10 oe-a>>>3.40 oe-a (almost bricked)>>>1.5>>>3.10 oe-a>>>3.40 oe-a Customized xmb (y)

Download this program to make any topmenu-plugin.rco's that you have compatible with 3.40 OE-A, if the US_Upgrade.bat doesn't work, try the Jap_Upgrade.bat.

All you have to do is place the topmenu you want converted into the folder and double click the relevant upgrade.bat, after it's finished press any key to exit the converter and the topmenu will now be able to be used with 3.40 OE-A.
