PSP will not turn on --Green light on for bit and then off

I had an ISO game on and turned my PSP off. Then, I took out the memory stick and replaced it with a different memory stick (both of these I've used before). I had forgotten to exit out of the game so I did that and then it went to the main menu screen but it was locked up. So, I removed the battery because trying to turn the PSP off failed to do the trick. When I put the battery back in and turned the unit on nothing happened. The green light would go on for about 30 seconds and then turn off and the screen remains black for the entire time. Any ideas what happened or if this can be fixed?

Sounds like a brick, though I don't know how what you did can lead to a brick. Can you access the recovery from cold boot?
#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...

A brick is what I thought at first too but like you I don't know what I did that could've done this. I was starting to hook it up via USB to my computer when I noticed my computer didn't recognize it as a drive. That's when I noticed the PSP was locked up.
Can you access the recovery from cold boot?
Do you mean holding the on switch up for several seconds? It will not do a hard reboot. When I turn the power on the screen is black even when holding the power switch up forever.

O man, that's really too bad. Because that means you got yourself a hard brick. Are you running dev hook or something?

Holding the right button and turning the power on does nothing. I don't understand why it would cause a brick from changing from one memory stick to another and I have done this before but maybe not while an ISO was running.
Yes I am running Dev Hook.

I dont know anything about dev hook but I think that might be messing up your firmware. Sorry I was still on official sony firmware during the dev hook craze.

I know no one likes Dev Hook but I had no problems for over 1 year with this same set up.
Any other suggestions? I figure I have paperweight on my hands now.

srry pal, but i dont think there are any recovery options for devhook.
you need a custom firmware (OE-A) to access recovery.
i'm sad to say but "Your PSP is Officially Bricked"
if you have a GameStop warranty, you can get a brand new one free (only if u bought a new one), if you bought a used one, they will still replace it, but they will give you a used one.
But..... if you don't have any of the above, then, what i would do if i were u is cry for 1-2 days, then you'll get over it, unless you're rich, just go buy yourself another psp bro :)
Winning isn't everything...

I guess I'm just surprised that someone hasn't created something that can recover this like via USB from the pc. I guess it's wishfull thinking.

this is weird? u have no reason to brick at all.. i once had my ISO running and i too changed the mstick while in sleep mode. when i turn my psp on, i just simply press HOME to return to the XMB.. nothing special happened. i guess u are just unlucky.

Well I guess 2.71 doesn't have a recovery mode I know.
But my issue is why would I brick to begin with. I'm glad btjl90 sees my point. Simply swapping memory sticks just doesn't add up to me.

Haha diffently has all the signs of a brick. well is yours a fake version? coz i think its somthing liek olding L button when starting so then you can hook the usb and re install the xmb thingy. but im not an expert on it..
