1) I have a RAID 0 setup with two 36gb SATA WD Raptors. It worked quite
well for 2.5 years until the inevitibale happened and I got a SMART error
on one of the drives telling me to backup and replace it. I've read quite
a bit on this SMART error and how to get past it, everyone says to disable
the feature in the BIOS and that it should work unless the SMART
notification came to late and the HDD has already malfunctioned. When the
error comes up, it gives me an option to resume by pressing "F1", then you
can see the Windows loading screen, after about ten seconds, the screen
turns black, then after a few minutes, the SMART error comes up again. The
problem I have is that I don't see a feature in the BIOS where I can turn
it off, I have looked at all the screens and I don't see anything about
SMART. My mobo is an ASUS Intel 945P P5LD2, and I have a Megatrends style
BIOS. Any suggestions on how I can get by this error?
2) When I can disable SMART and hopefully get access to my PC again, I
want to make a disk image of my RAID 0 so when I get another drive, I can
just inject the image onto it and continue my daily computing activities.
Does anybody know what the latest and greatest software and/or method is
to do this..............or where I can look for more information on this?
