Not a poll. Just curious. I just lost the ability to use my old PSP and still not sure why. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/542374

Am looking to replace my old friend with one that is pre-installed with 3.40OE FIRMWARE from ebay. Wanted to make sure I don't end up with another brick accidentally somewhere down the line. Read the link and you'll understand my skepticism.

OE and M33 are both safer than the official sony FW as they contain a recovery mode to deal with semi-bricks.

the only way people brick on these CFW is by user error.

installing CFW is as safe as upgrading to an offical sont FW since you are still writing to flash.

read the readme files carefully.

3.40OE - A is the best stable OE version.. Dont know the M33 series though,, im getting alot of feedbacks that it crashes to a certain point in PSP.

i think 3.40 OEA is the best CFW out there CURRENTLY. the problem with m33 is that there is always bound to be bugs in their first release. thus if u upgrade to m33 u must expect alot of patches and stuff. <---- that just turns me off. makes me wonder how stable/bug-free is m33

I'm glad to hear all the positive feedback about this Firmware. It makes my decision easier. I did read that 3.40 OE runs ISO's but NOT CSO's. I don't think I have many CSO's but I wondered if there was any truth to that.

3.40OE-a runs both isos and csos (but not dax files)

the updates you are talking about on M33 are to add things in that are not in 3.40OE-A

M33 now boasts almost 99% no-UMD loader and obviously 3.52FW (as many games about to come out will require >3.40FW)

i highly recommend it

Ok i've got a used PSP with 3.40 custom firmware on it's way from ebay. Now... when I get it should I reformat my old memory sticks? They were being used with 2.71 firmware with Dev Hook and Henc. And from what I gathered is that I still need to put ISO's in ISO folder and still have a UMD in the system to play the ISO. Right?
