hi all
i've been using newsgroups to download games
its good but sometimes there are a lot of missing files...
is there better or more convenient program or website where i can download from?

www.blackcats-games.net, is by far hands down the best site, super fast downloads, the only problem is they are really strict on ratio, so if you don't share they will ban you from the site.

Actually, you should go through the rest of the rules:

You can talk about Blackcats and even post a link to the site... it's the same as using Google. You just can't post a direct link to pirated material on that site. By doing so, you just implicated AD in hosting pirated material.
Also, the poster didn't state anything about not owning the originals. If he came out and said" I don't have the orig's to make my own backups, so..." then that's obviously piracy. It's a real fine line we have to walk here to keep everything legit.
@ Anabi_Ltd... if you're using newsgroups now, you're going to hate going to torrents. You'll lose alot of speed.

You must want to get banned. I mean you can time in "x" followed by torrent and you'd get a site. The only way anyone would be allowed to help you if you had said that you own the game but don't know how to rip it. Too late for that, dUmbAsS.

Look at it like this... how many times have you seen The Pirate Bay in the news section here on AD. Or any other torrent site for that matter. Quite often. Just like in the news section, it's not a problem talking about them in the 360 section. It's not illegal for you or I to go to any of these sites and look around. And because it's not illegal, we can talk about or post a link to those sites here on AD.
Now, say I post this link here on AD (it's not real, just an example):

When you click on it, you automatically get your "start download, save location" dialog box. That's the "directly linking to pirated materials" which is against forum rules. Because that link is posted here on AD, that makes AD legally responsible.
As for the piracy part, we can discuss it, but you gotta watch what you say here on AD. Because Anabi kept his question real simple with very little detail, it's allowable. He didn't tell us he don't own the originals. For all we know he doesn't have access to properly make his own backups.
But quite often we see the posts here like this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/542324 . The poster said outright that he sold his originals, kept his backups, and even made copies for his cousin. He wasn't just talking about piracy, he's proving he is a pirate. And that's against forum rules.

How i found out about newsgroups was here at AD. this place is known for more freedom of information. Other sites won't even let you mention torrents let alone sites.

You've been able to talk about site where you can possibly get pirated material for years on Afterdawn, just no direct download links are permitted. I don't know why people are all the sudden trying to act like it's not the case. This isn't Xboxscene and if it turned into that I'd probably stop here posting myself.

With that said I like the newsgroups 1st and blackkats 2nd. Newsgroup downside is you have to pay and blackcats downside is you have to maintain your share ratio. You are just using a bad news server, because I find generally most games are complete or at least complete enough to be fixed with par2s.

Yes this is true Memnock but the real issue here is people either
a) Didn't fully read the rules
b) Didn't know the rules get amended from time to time
c) Didn't truly understand the rules
d) Didn't even read the rules at all
So while you as well as other aD power users here know how it works some newbies (and even higher) just don't do/use proper "Netiquette".
