i'm backin up GoW right now, and at 4% I got this error:

W 19:25:36 Failed to Write Sectors 150624 - 150655 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.
W 19:25:36 Retrying (1 of 20)...

Since then it hasn't done anything, hasn't retried, nothin. just sat there. is there anything i can do, or did am i gonna be lookin at a coaster?

well first. When i'm burning stuff i stop using the PC. let all resources go to the burn. Burning is complicated, and lack of resource will give you complicated random/un-understandable error in the log. You probabaly have a coaster.

check settings then retry.

i think i got another coaster :( this time at 5%

i have no idea what to do

(on my other computer now, not the one burning the disc)

also, when it stops at 5%, the dvd drive becomes unresponsive, it won't even eject when i hit the eject button, and the rest of the computer freezes until i turn the dvd drive off :(

clone cd did not work. it stopped at 19% :(

my dvd drive just stops writing. everytime the program has to stop writing data, it's because my dvd drive just freezes up, i don't know what's wrong, i'm able to back up normal dvd movies just fine

coaster 3 :(

from what i read the error your getting is because the drive is losing connection with the system here is a thread about it..

hopefully that will work, because that semaphore timeout thing is the exact error I got in ImgBurn. it's odd though, because I can back up my DVD movies just fine and not get that error (as of now, I've gotten that error before though)

do you believe this has anything to do with my USB 2.0 enclosure for it?

well, I hope that's not the case lol

k, in clone cd, do i need to do anything about the layer break?

also, if i do it in ImgBurn, in settings>I/O>interface what should i select? ASPI? i wouldn't ask except that you had me replace the ASPI layer in windows or whatever

UPDATE: after installing the new ASPI thing, i ran ASPI Check. it said it worked. then i plugged my external dvd burner in and it said "is properly installed but was unable to initialize"

Are you on a Laptop? If not? i would pull the drive and install in in the desktop. Don't try to burn more untill you are absolutely certain.

no, no laptop. i was thinking about doing that. i just want it to work externally because i have to haul it back and forth to my mom and dad's place. what ever though, cuz i never had any problems with the drive at my moms so...

same question though (for whoever can answer it), do i need to do anything for the layer break in clone cd? and in ImgBurn, what interface to i set the settings to?
