can you rip the files from a dvd-rom disc and then burn a dvd video disc that you can play on a normal standalone dvd player?

A friend purchased an expensive educational disc that came on a dvd-rom disc. He thought it would play in his dvd player and it will not. Can I rip the contents of the disc to my harddrive and then burn a dvd video disc that will play on a standalone dvd player with dvd decrypter?

Rip DVD with DVDFab HD Decrypter
Insert disk, run program, select 'Main Movie' or 'Full Disk'

Open output folder in DVDShrink

DVD Shrink:

Guide:
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/
Download, install and run.
'Open Files' choose the folder with the DVD files.
Click 'Backup!'
'Target Device' / 'Select backup target' > 'ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter'
File will be analyzed and shrunk to fit DVD (if required).
