hi i just got the 360 elite and i was wondering if any1 could tell me how to hack it and what i can do with it when its hacked...thnx im a noob to the 360 hacking

well, this is an informational post here
but for starters, just to let you know, the elite is harder to hack. the first thing you need to do is google image search "xbox 360 drives difference" that'll tell you what brand you have. then u need to open it, and find your drive's ROM version. then once you know that, you gather the firmware from xbins (use search bar on xbins). then you follow a couple tutorials and you're set. so find the kind of drive you have, then use the search bar a little, and come back with some questions ;)

there is a slight chance, but it's very unlikely with the new technology they've developed, just make sure you do everything EXACTLY the way you're supposed to, and you'll be fine! ;)

i think i'll be fine cuz i downgraded and installed custom firmware to my PSP so i got some experience w/ this stuff

hey man i did some searching and figured out how to do the firmware modification to my 360 elite. thnx now i can play 360 backups off another disk!!!

oops im srry i posted that last post as i had finished transfering the data to the disk. i tried p;laying it on my 360 but it doesnt work. i think its because some of the ghost data on the 360 disks dont get coppied on to normal writtable diask's. O well. We'll get it right some day.

wait, so you did the firmware mod already? what drive do you have and what firmware you using? cuz if it's flashed correctly you should have no problems playing backups, unless u use ixtreme (recommended) seeing as your copies have to be stealthed to play in an ixtreme drive. so let me know :D

i was doin stuff for like 4 hrs straight n i figured it out. yep it plays backups (w/ some problems lol) :D

not many at all the only one is i cant play my backup of gears form another disk but i dont really care cus i have the original game anyway

Now that you're flashed, remember to burn all backups on Verbatim DD+R DL discs and burn at 4x if your burner can support it. If not, then burn at 2.4x
Don't even think of using another brand of discs. Do whatever you have to in order to get Verbatim. Trust me, will solve alot of headaches later on.

Ur 360 can be modded, but you will have to find a place online that sells modchips.
For your drive, u need software and hardware.
hope that helps some.

The only elites that were moddable were sold at launch and had the hitachi 0078 drive. all the elites now have either the benq drive(not moddable) or the hitachi 0079 drive (moddable but needs addon chip to be soldered to drive) NOT EASY unless you are a wiz with an iron!
