Hi,

I have purchased an original of Flatout : Ultimate Carnage and it didn't read in my console (FW 5.2, MS28 drive).

I returned it to the store and they gave me a new one but the same thing happens. It seems like it is battling to read the disc and then it either does nothing or it gives the white screen "Please put this in an XBOX console" message.

Every other game of mine works 100% correctly. There are no scratches on the disc and I have also tried it on another console (same firmware, same drive).

Anyone else had these problems?

Thanks

I also forgot to mention that it is the PAL version and a PAL console.

Did it happen on the other console? I serious doubt it's a new copy protection as that has been out for a while in the UK and newer games are still working for people. It wouldn't hurt to update your firmware.

Hi,

Yes, the same thing happened on the other console.

How would a new firmware help though if it isn't new copy protection?

A while back when old Hitachi firmware wouldn't play certain new retail games while burned copies worked. The security sectors were in a different places. I'm not sure it it was a deliberate thing. New firmware took care of that. Still the game has been out for a while in the UK and this is the 1st I've heard of such issues.

It seems odd that being the only game that doesn't work. Maybe try flashing to original just to see if it will boot. If it doesn't then is wrong with your laser or maybe multiple pressings of the game are bad. I'm thinking laser, but I know people are playing this game with flashed firmware. Not me however, since it's not released in the US yet.

I doubt it is the laser as it does the same thing in another console so I am thinking that the disc is either bad or it does not like the firmware. The store has said that I can get a refund for the game so I am going to try to buy one from a different store and see if it works.

I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for your views.
