My Old Modded Xbox is destoyed But The Harddrive is fine How can I save the drive for use on a pc? I dont have access to any kind of modded xbox any longer and I'm stuck with my locked xbox configured harddrive. I would Like to keep the harddrive cause it's a 250GB Drive and is perfectly fine what can I do? I know how to use a pc and if theres a way to do it with a regular computer then I'd like to find out how please.

have you got the EEPROM backed up anywhere??? you need it to unlock the drive, then you could reformat it for use with a PC

If you still have the destroyed xbox. You might be able to make an eeprom reader and get the eeprom off the motherboard. Then you could unlock the hdd and use it in your pc

I wish I had known I would of needed it, the motherboard was tossed along with the destroyed case, at the time it was sorta chaotic and I didnt think about anything but seeing if the HD was unharmed.

The old Xbox HD yes I'll most likely junk it's only 8gb, but I have this 250gb HD from where I got my xbox modded and then my modded xbox was tossed on the ground and broken in a heated battle. So I'm trying to see how I can save the 250gb Hard drive.

Yes, cause when I put it in to a pc , windows detects that the hardware is hooked up but doesn't list it in my computer just in the hardware manager.

yah i have the same problem except i still have my xbox with the 8gb hdd in it. i tried to get the eeprom off the 8gb hdd and use that to unlock my locked 40gb hdd but no luck. Because isn't the eeprom on both hdds the same because i locked the 40gb hdd using the eeprom from the 8gb hdd?

If you were able to use the 40gb in the xbox then yes the hdd pw;s are the same. It sounds like you've softmodded your xbox. You probably backed up your eeprom before you softmodded. Look in your E: file directory on your 8gb drive and look for it. The eeprom along with the hdd pw should be saved there.

yes i've done that before and made my linux iso but i'm never able to unlock my 40gig hdd. In hdm i selected all 3 options to unlock the hdd and it looked like it was completeing it but then nothing happened so i thought it worked but then under live info the drive is still listed as locked.

i don't think there'd be a new way to unlock your 250gig hdd without your xbox because now you can't read your eeprom.

do you originaly softmod the Xbox and put in the bigger dive?? if so you should have a linux boot cd for it, or an ISO of it. that would have had to have the eeprom on it to transfer to the new drive. Hopfuly that boot CD may have options to lock and unlock drives using your original eeprom. of course this assumes that you did the softmod and that you kept the linux boot cd or at least the image of it.
