360 backups not working please help

Hello All,
I just flashed my 360 sammy drive w/ ixtreme 1.2c. Everything seemed to go fine.
I created an image of gears of war with xbox backup creator and my SH-D162C Kreon drive. All seemed fine.
I used Imgburn to burn the image. I set the booktype to DVD-ROM, I set the layer break to 1913760, I set burn speed to 2.4, and hit burn. All went well.
Now when I put the disc in my 360 I can see the game loading and then a panel pops out of the right saying the disc is unreadable, I can still see the intro to the game playing in the background, but any button I push just takes me back to the dashboard.
I'm using Memorex DVD+R DL disc. My DVD RW drive is a Lite-On it does support book typing as my backups report as DVD-ROM in my book typing program after burn.
Could it be the media, bad burn, or did my 360 dvd flash not go correctly? Is there any way to tell if your flash procedure for the 360 went ok other than the process it self completing with no errors? Like the old XBOX used to say UleashX if the dash hack took correctly and that was the dash being used.
Sorry this is so long just wanted to provide all info I could think of.

Memorex Dual Layer DVDs ARE THE WORST TYPE OF MEDIA YOU CAN BUY.
They are often inconsistent in quality (Lots of laggy, skipping gameplay) and even if you get a game to play they tend to wear out your XBOX 360s laser because it takes the laser in the 360 so much stress to read the game that it dies.
Instead of going cheap and buying the DL DVD's that cost like $3 less, choose Verbatim, a brand which is the best among all its competitors.
Yes, there are other brands like TDK or Fujifilm, but those aren't like Verbatim. Verbatims are very gentle, and your 360 will not even know its reading a back up disc.

This is the same problem I had. It has nothing to do with the media.
Its because the games aren't stealth. I wish I could tell you how to make them stealth, but somebody else will have to do that.
Any help?

Thanks for the replies. I wanted to get verbatim but the two stores I went to did not have any so I bought a 3 pack of the only disc they had Memorex, I will get some verbatim today from sams club and try again.
I thought by using the SH-D162C kreon drive and XBC it makes a stealth image of the disc. Is there some thing else I need to do, settings that need to be set, or is another prog needed?

its definetly the media....i used HP DVD dls first and had a lot of problems with backups like The Darkness and Def Jam Icon, then used verbatim which works better (in newegg.com you can buy them form about $1.79 each)

ok b4 u change media why dont u just download and instal xbox creator 2.5(latest version) to get the image and the .dvd file and why dont you just use xbox back up creator to write the .dvd file (the smaller size file) to ur blank dual layer dvd. yes verbatim are the best but other media does work but at your own risk to your xbox 360's laser
sometimes when one application doesnt burn in this case img burn another will like xbox back up creatoryou have created a stealth image because you used shd162c with kreon and xbox back up creator but make sure its xbox back up creator 2.5 well for me anyway have no probs with it
so if try this first to burn the .dvd file with xbox back up creator 2.5
what dual layer dvd writer you got oh liteon well that does work youve set your layer break and the bitsetting to dvd-rom burn at a slow speed too burn the game at 2.4x and no faster
try to play an orginial game in ur xbox if that works and you know anybody with a stealth back up then borrow a game form them to c if u flashed ur drive properly
try what i wrote first use xbox back up creator if that doesnt work then just let me know

I have XBC 2.5. That is what I'm using. I tried to burn with XBC but it gave errors. I then tried imgburn with settings and results from above. I then tried DVD Decrypter with the same settings and results from imgburn. Those three tries took up all the disc I had. I'm waiting for my wife to get home from work so I can go out and get more but this time verbatim.
I did burn at 2.4, and there is no probs playing originals.
Unfortunately I don't know anyone in my area that has a modded 360.
I'm the only one out of my friends that knows how to mod or has the balls to try.
I have modded my PS2, PSP, and XBOX 1, but seems I'm having a hiccup here. I'm hoping it's the media.
How other than playing a backup can I tell if my flashing went well?
Do you know a different way to tell if the 360 DVD drive is actually flashed or not?
The whole process proceeded just as the tutorial said and I have a backup of the original.bin and hacked.bin from the FW flash. So it seems to me the flash went ok. And you and others have said that by using the kreon drive and XBC 2.5 with the original disc that it makes a stealth image of the original. Seems my settings for the burn are correct. All I can conclude at this point is it's the media.

you said u have a sammy drive? if it is a ms28 then you most def. NEED VERBATIMS, I had to change my media also... good luck brother.
one word of advice: if you have a technical problem, always start by the most logical source or apply the simplier solution (in this case change your media), if doesn't work try a different program, but never start by the most complex (reflash firmware), it can lead into a world of trouble ;-)...

Well the verbatims didn't work either. The only thing with them is that all I could find today was verbatim DVD +R DL 4x is the lowest they support. I'm assuming this may be the prob. I just don't get it the whole intro plays in the background. Does anyone know what happens when you put a backup in a 360 that is not flashed? Does it even load the disc? I mean whould it even show me the intro on a burnt disc? It gets all the way past the part in gears of war where it says online play may change the content then as the EA symbol comes up the unreadable disc panel pops out. Whould this happen if the drive was not flashed or would the 360 not even try to load the burnt disc? This is driving me nuts;) Well thanks again for any help folks.

I'm stumped could it be the fw? I used ixtreme 1.2c quiet. I have also read that lite-on burners make coasters. Is this true? Cause the burn completes fine but the XBOX is having trouble reading it. Could the dvd pot tweak thing help? I really hate to tear down my drive if I don't need to. Will an older fw work better?I don't plan on going online so stealth has no point for me. Thanks again.

well....if you try a DVDW dl in an unmodded xbox 360 a screen will appear that says that you need to insert a xbox 360 game....if your backup plays and then you get an error (even if only it is the intro) then it means one of the following: the game rip (or iso file) was not made properly - try ripping the game again; The burn had errors - try burning it again (slower write speeds are better); The media (blank DVD dl you used) are not very compatible with your xbox 360 drive and/or burner - buy a different brand of DVD. Truthly i dont think is your firmware, beacuse as soon as it can ready "ANY" part of a game, then it shows that the firmware works.

That's what I thought about the FW myself just was not sure. Now do you think it may have to do with the quiet version. From what I found the quiet FW makes the 360 read backups at 4x and with the fast FW they read at 12x like originals. Could this be a prob? I would think the quiet FW would result in a better read because it is slower maybe I'm wrong what do you think?

I dont think so....the quiet version read better, but have longer load times and also extend the laser life; the fast version in the other hand means quicker loads ...try the other firmware, it might work, you never know....just let me know how it went.
Also, have you tried riping the games at 2x speed?

I am going to borrow my neighbors burner and see if that makes a difference. I will post back any results. Thanks for the help so far.
And no I have not tried 2x. Prob now is the only verbatim I have found only support 4x 6x 8x write speeds. So I might just be beating a dead horse with these disc. Although I have seen ppl saying they write at 6x with no probs. But this doesn't help me eliminate things cause it very well could be the write speed although the first set of disc I had were memorex that I did burn at 2.4x with the same results. AHHHHHHHHH I'm going crazy.

Well I glad to report I got it sorted out.
Seems the IDE to USB adapter I was using to hook up my kreon drive to my laptop was bad, and as a result the dumped image was no good. I hooked the drive to a different USB adapter and re-dumped the image and burned it the same way as before with the same verbatim DVDs at 4x with the same lite-0n burner and the resulting disc plays fine.
I would like to thank every one for trying to help. AfterDawn has the greatest forums with the greatest people. I hardly ever even get responses at other forums. People here are much more willing to help and see you through your troubles.

do you have to use the SH-D162C or can you use any other samsung drive with the kreon firmware or some other firmware to backup games

I believe you need that SH-D162c drive. I'm not to sure the FW would work with another drive. I think flashing FW to a drive it wasn't made for would probable brick the drive. You may want to wait for someone else to confirm this. Although with that drive and XBC it's as very easy to make backups.

you can only use certain sammy drive for back up a list of them are on this site mate flashing it with kreon v0.81 will honestly take you 5 minutes if that theres guides out there and if you need any help then just ask on here

Hi all
I have an xbox running on xtreme 5.3 which runs all my backup copies.
I have now got another xbox running ixtreme 1.2c quiet. This one won't run all my backups just some. Both samsung ms25 drives. Now from what i understand the reason is that the backups it won't run aren't stealth copies. What i'm wondering is if it is possible to copy the backups and make them stealth copies?
