I have a lot of SVCD's which I want to transfer to DVD. However I want to put more then 1 scvd on each DVD, therefore can anyone suggest the best way to do this, eg what tools to use and how.
Thanks in advance

The Best way is to Burn the SVCD"s to DVD as Non-Standard DVD"s, this way you do not have to convert the SVCD Video to DVD Video and you do not loose any Video Quality and you can get like 2-3 Full Movies on a DVD-R..I have backed up about 400 SVCD"s to DVD this way and they are perfect..What I did was I used a Mpeg editor (Mpeg2VCR) to first Join each seperate SVCD movie into a whole movie and do this with about 3 movies or usually 6 SVCD CD"s so at the end I had 3 Whole movies..Then I would use the Demultiplexor in Mpeg2VCR to seperate the SVCD files into seperate audio and Video files, then You could use a audio encoder or even use TMPGEnc to encode the Mpeg1 layer 2 audio from the SVCD files to Mpeg1 layer 2 audio at 48000hz (I would usually encode my audio to AC3 but this way works also)..After the audio for all 3 movies was Converted to 48000hz I would Load all of the Audio and Video files into a Program Called "DVD-Lab"..
DVD-Lab is a Very good DVD authoring Program and it also lets you author SVCD Files to DVD..I would use it to Add Chapters and Menu"s to my Movies and set up the Button Links and other stuff you do when authoring a DVD and it will Burn all of the Movies to DVD-R(If they all fit) and they should play in Most DVD players...If you want a copy of Mpeg2VCR or DVD-Lab then message me with your E-Mail and I"ll try to help you out...Cheers

PS: it might sound hard But it is totally simple ....

hi all

i just drop the mpegs (from svcd dics - one from each disc) in tmpgenc dvd author and make vobs! and burn with nero!

if tmpgenc dvd author complains non compliant mpeg - run the mpeg in VCDeasy on the tools section! to make compliant!

Thx...

SORRY just read again he wants 3 films still in svcd format!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

To fit more than one film onto DVD, you have to change the vobs headers which then fool the DVD Authoring software into thinking that they are DVD compliant. After authoring, you then change them back so that they are then in the correct aspect ratio etc.

Use DVD patcher to make the mpegs DVD compliant.
Use TNPGEnc DVD Author to make the vobs and also burn them.

Warnning!
By putting vcd/svcd on DVD, you are making a XDVD thus compatability with your DVD player is not guarantied!

You don"t need to change the headers if you use DVD-Lab to author the SVCD"s to DVD...and TMPGEnc DVD author will Not Author SVCD"s to DVD-R only VCD"s....

What method did you use?? did you use "DVD-Lab"??? well there ate 2 setting you can use in DVD lab to get better compatibility with some DVD Players...DVD-Lab will Usually author SVCD"s to DVD just Like a Normal DVD so when the DVD Player starts to play the Non-standard Resolution it can have problems displaying it properly which is whay my DVD player did so what you do is when you are authoring your DVD in DVD Lab go to the Project settings and set the resolution to 480+480, DVD Lab will Give you a warning that changeing this setting can cause Problems But I found that not to be true...For me this Fixed how the Imge was displayed, and made them work Perfectly....Cheers

Im using dvd lab, tried to change it to 480+480,still ending up with the same problem. Its doing the exact same thing if you were to use lets say DVD2SVCD,then you end up with usually 2 bbmpegs then use Nero, instead of choosing SVCD choose VCD then burn to cd without reincoding then put it in your standalone dvd player that plays svcd's and thats the same thing im getting with the dvd.

Well It seems that your DVD Player doesn"t support SVCD on DVD..Not all Players will Support this, especially if your DVD Player Doesn"t support SVCD in the First Place...There isn"t much you can do accept maybe re-encode the SVCD file to a DVD Compliant File...Good Luck

Hi, No Re-encodeing to a DVD compliant File isn"t really hard But you will loose a Lot of the image Quality..Every time you recompress a File you loose Quite a Bit of Image Quality and because SVCD resolution is 480+480 and the Standard DVD resolution is 720+480 you will loose a lot of Quality through Re-sizeing the Image ,So I would say that if you can get another DVD Player that will play SVCD on DVD and it isn"t too much trouble to do so then you should do it...especially if you are going to possibly be putting More SVCD"s on to DVD-R......Cheers
