OK I just joined here and came in to see what happened to you. ok um just so you know the 10,000 USD thing is either a lie and he has what i know of....... or it's true and he got ripped off 9,925 Bucks.
ok go search psp modchips. if you have one of these babies you can unbrick any psp no matter what. it allows you to have a second flash directories. also it allows you to reflash your bricked psp. so with one of these(not recomended) you can go brick it for fun.
so theirs your answer
plus they only cost 75$ and you can pay some places to install them for you. for about 200$ all-together. and then you will never have to worry about it bricking.
bhhd

ya but in order to use the modchip you have to take the psp apart and mess with the motherboard... and SOLDER it in if he did do it the way i doubt he would only charge $40 usd cause if a modchip cost 75 each and its not coming out, im pretty sure he is using a jigkick like mrmcman said look it up on google vid

There is a 1 chance of he using the MOD Chip and unsoldering it after he has reflashed the bricked PSP, if he can do that, there is a chance that the PSPs might get internal damage, please when you receive it, check the MOBO and let know if its no smolered and unsmoldered.

I just sold my white psp 3.52M33 today, and I only have a useless bricked psp, after reading this thread I might fix it by giving it to this ebay guy. So if he can really unbrick a psp.
*NVM*
I just unbricked my 2 psp using the pandora battery.
