I just bought my first PSP and I want to downgrade it.

It came with version 2.82 installed and it is a TA-082 model. The game I bought is Need for Speed Carbon.

When I put the disc in, I get an option for a 2.71 firmware update under "Game". Will installing 2.71 help me get to 1.5 or will I brick if I try to install it.

it wont install 2.71,it will say you already have 2.82,you will have to update to 3.03 official firmware and then downgrade to 1.5 using unpached gta lcs. im not sure if you can just downgrade from 2.82 because iv never done it.

white TA-082 fully bricked using wrong downgrade another white TA-082 2.71 > 1.5 > 3.40oe-a then to 3.52m33 > 1.5 > 3.80 ofw > pandora battery & magic memory stick to get 1.5 then 3.52m33 > 3.71m33 > 3.80m33, psp's still alive!!!

go to psp hacks, google it and search 3.03 official update or search through the search menu at the top of this page

Download the 3.03 update here
Unzip/rar it and rename it to EBOOT.PBP and place it in your memory card like this; PSP/GAME/UPDATE/(put it here)
