Ive got a fairly brand new PSP, only about a month and a half old, with fw 3.40oe-a. Im having problems with the battery that I just cant figure out or find an answer to. The PSP will not turn on now without the AC adapter; it doesnt matter which battery I use, and they all work in my 2nd PSP (bought at the same time and also fw 3.40oe-a).
I was at work charging the PSP, and playing it simultaneously, but when I unhooked the AC adapter the PSP shut off. Now, I cannot get it to turn on without plugging in the AC adapter. Anybody ever have this problem or know how to fix it? Please help a guy out!

I have the same problem. It may be something on the motherboard. Is the battery charging? If it's not it's a blown fuse. You just need to open the PSP and bridge it. Google around for the pics on the location of the fuse.If it is charging you'll have to wait for the answer because mine is at the techie now. Will let you know what it is as soon as I get it back.I know it can also be a firmware problem I never experienced it but some firmware does give this problem. I know you said you are running the same firmware on both psp's.

I guess I could downgrade the PSP back to 1.50...it just doesnt make sense that my other psp has no problems. There was a thunderstorm the day this happened, but i dont recall any disturbances with the electricity.

Does the orange light come on when the battery is in? What does the battery status show on your console when the ac adapter is plugged in?

Yes that is the fuse that's blown.(totally based on my knowledge) If it's under guarantee take it back from where you bought it or did you buy it from ebay? Well to fix the fuse you must open the PSP and it requires some soldering. The fuse is about 7-8 Dollars. If you need instructions on doing this I can assist, but rather take it to somebody who knows about electronics.Must of been a power surge or something these things happen.
