I am having trouble. First off I want to say that I have been reading forums for days before starting this thread. I would just like to see if I can get some input based on my personal experience with doing this. Let me explain what I have done so far. I did the firmware hack on my hitachi 0078 drive using slax 2 and it was succesful as far as I can tell. That seemed to be the easy part. Now I go to back up a game and realized that this is much more difficlt. This is what I did. I have a DVD rom that I removed the top. I put a movie in there that is 7.9GB. the biggest i could find. find magic # then save layout. edit that layout file with notepad and change the first letter on the third line to d. Open the layout that I just changed and saved. Then I tell disc to stop spinning and switch with 360 game. tell it to start spinning and then dump the game. All goes well with no cycle redundancy errors. So I have the image...This is where is had been giving me trouble. Patching the game Security Sector. I used SSmerger 1.7b told it where the game image is and then the kameo's ss.bin file. But when it loads the ss.bin file the lines on the left stay red. No matter what I do it looks like I am not using the right ss.bin file or something. I go ahead and merge it anyways and then edit the file it created removing the layer information and then saving to keep those changed. I burn that image using cd clone. Then I put it in the 360 and get the YOU DID IT WRONG AGAIN SCREEN "what I like to call it" Well so far I have made 3 DL coasters and before I attempt another I want to see about getting some input. Please if you see anything in what I just exaplined that I may be doing wrong please let me know. If I left out any information that might help you help me please let me know and I will let you know. Use XDVDMulleter to insert your ss.bin, pfi.bin and dmi.bin files. You may also need the video partitian file as well. Usually the auto-fix will work with XDVDMulleter. If you flashed your Hitachi 0078 with FWToolbox 4, then you have the ixtreme fw which will only boot stealth patched games.
For the easiest way to make your own game backups, buy the Samsung D162-C drive and flash it with the kreon .81 fw. Then use Xbox Backup Creator to make the stealth patched .iso
The reason everything is in red with SSMerger is because the md5 checksum is offline.
What if I connected the PC Straight to 360 drive. Would I still need to patch the game? Cause I was considering rigging somehting up in the back to unplug the sata from the 360 to redirect it to the pc easily. What program do you use to make a stealth patched game? Never hear of that. I am unable to buy another drive but could no problem buy the sata extention cable to make the xbox drive accesable without openeing it. Any help would be greatly appritiated.
if you can put up with the hassle, then yeah, you can attach your xbox 360 DVD drive to your PC and use Xbox Backup Creator (XBC) 2.5 to make a stealth backup. If i were you, i'd just buy the samsung SH-162C PC drive flashed with Kreon .81
that drive along with XBC creates stealth backups without having to take apart your 360 for every backup you make
Since I have a 360 right by my PC I could have a SATA cable out the side of the PC. Then lead two SATA cables outside of the 360 from the 360 mainboard and also the Drive. Then hook those two together with an adapter for regular play. Or detach those and hook up the PC to the 360 drive to do the backups without having to open the 360 ever again..until possible future brilliant hacks. Since I received verification that I can do a stealth backup using the 360 drive I will go this route. I do not want to buy another drive just yet. But please let me get just a tad bit more verification. If I attach the 360 drive to the PC and use Xbox Backup Creator (XBC) 2.5 this will make a slealth backup. Will there be any other steps I need to take like patching and such or will the image be ready to burn and play?
Ok, I just ripped a game. I obtained three files..DMI PFI and SS files. I need to do a stealth burn for it to work with my firware. I hear yo ucan do this with merger 1.7. But not sure what to do with the PFI and DMI Files. Please help.
Thanks for everyones input. I finnally managed to make a succesful backup. I used wxripper to rip the image. Used the merger 1.7b and the ss pfi and dmi and merged them unchecking the video partition part.(not sure what that is but it would not work checked) and then using cd clone I burned the image at 2.4 speed. Put it in and it worked. After 3 coasters I am glad it worked. Thanks for your help.
