usb keyboard and mouse dont work

i've been thinking of installing ubuntu on my ps3 so i got a keyboard and mouse combo for it. when i plug the keyboard in the ps3 the num,scroll and caps lock light blink and then go off and the keyboard doesn't work under the xmb. same problem with the mouse its on optical mouse and it doesn't even work at all. anyone else have this problem?
i no its not the usb ports cus i checked them all with a usb stick any ideas?

My keyboard and mouse don't work under XMB either, but it works when I boot into Ubuntu.

Try unplugging it then plugging it back up.

both of mine work fine...but i had to buy a cheap adapter thing for my keyboard...the mouse is just plain usb...with one o them fancy laser things...haha...
