I have 153 real media files that take up 12.5 GB of space on my computer.

It seems like I can only fit 8 files (totals to about 800 mb on my hard drive) onto one dvd at a time if I use ConvertXtoDVD. Is there any way to fit more onto one 4.7 GB disc?

thanks in advance!

I guess you could select a DVD9 as the target output size and create a folder and then use DVD Shrink to compress the DVD9-sized files to a DVD5-sized disk. Video quality will be reduced.

Do you know about how many discs I would need?

is there a way for me to just copy the rmvb files onto a DVD-R disc so that I can view it on a computer. I don't need it to play on a dvd player. I just want to back up the files.

I don't have any way of knowing how many for sure. If ConvertX was using max compression then figure 8 titles per DVD5. If ConvertX was just using normal compression, then using DVD Shrink, maybe up to 12-16 but with crappy quality.

If you don't need to convert to be DVD compliant just burn the stuff as a data disk.

Of course. Simply save them as DATA. You'll need about 4 DVDs.

@martybe

It doesn't matter how long the movie is. What matters is the size of the video. DVD5s hold about 4400mb of actual video data. If your movie mpeg2 video is larger, you'll have to put it on a DVD9 (double layer disk), split it over 2 DVD5s, or use DVD Shrink or Nero Recode to compress the video to fit the DVD5.

Is the folder 1.16GB after conversion to DVD? If so, you'll need to use DVD Shrink to either compress to fit a DVD9 or a DVD5. You open the folder created by divx2dvd in DVD Shrink. Use Edit -> Preferences -> to set the target output size (DVD5 or DVD9) and the type of output (ISO image file or DVD folder). Burn the image or folder with Nero or ImgBurn or whatever burning engine you prefer.
