That should be a good one-and it looks like you could return it if you have problems...Thay have that red Sandisk one as well for £31.99-and the Sandisk one is actually better for read/write response time..

@sataholic-Thats a good price for the 8GB-I know when they first came out they were almost $400!!

Just to update everyone. The Sandisk 4gb from newegg.com for $61 when you add shipping is awesome, and not a fake at all.

yea i ordered one tht ended p being fake (had wishful thinking lol). i mailed the guy and told him it was a fake and this was the responce:

Hello
Glad to hear from you.
But I was shocked when hearing the card mistake.
Please be noticed that all of our MEMORY cards are from the regular suppliers,so their performance is original.
Now I want to know whether you have formated the card in your PSP or camera first.
You know it's very important for a new card.
But you had better not format the card in the computer, because it may damage some of the data when formating it in computer.
Also, you should attempt to operate it with another device.
Please don't worry about that at all.
Anyway,we will always be responsible for our items.
Greetings

It shouldn't matter how you format your memory stick....A good memory stick is not going to get ruined if you format it with your PC!!! That guy is bullshitting you-Thats probably ony of his many canned responses when people send him emails about his bogus products thats he has drop-shipped from Hong Kong...

I am assuming that you bought your memory from eBay?? You need to be assertive and tell (not ask) him/her you want your money back immediately, or you will report them to eBay for selling/distributing counterfeit products...

You and me both. I have gone round and round with my supplier and if I can't resolve this issue then I will try to have them removed from eBay, they are selling junk.

Hi,

I have a sandisk from ebay.. a 4Gb.. When my computer started telling me I had only 230Mb left while the psp would tell me I had 2.8Gb I started worrying and came to my favorite place to find out more..
I reformatted it on the psp itself and now the computer seems to show me the right size..
I checked the sandisk from teh psp and it does tell me origin: unknown.. so it is a fake..
Does it mean it will break down at some point.. or does it only mean that it is slower ? (is it both read and write ?) How does it affect my game playing ?

@brokedan-yeah, better to just get your money back, if you paid with paypal, even better because you should be protected...The process takes a while to complete for refunds though...But I would just try to work it out with the seller first, and if no luck then report them to eBay and start the process that way. I think now sellers are required to have at least 98% feedback and be verified by eBay for their memory if they sell in bulk like that...

@tonykaye-good luck, most of those sellers usually are power sellers that move alot of product every day, but thats about it...Their customer service lacks a great deal...There is a place you can go to on eBay for reporting sellers and they have some guides on what to do if you get hosed by a seller that sells fake memsticks..

@reuh-A fake will generally have lower read/write times as well as not being able to access portions of the memory...Chances are pretty good that you wont be able to load your memstick to full capacity..You will have problems with game saves, and data becomming corrupted, etc..

dEEz_nUtz -> thanks for the answer. So far so good. I think it was just because I quitted without unmounting my device. I tried to fill up the disk and well it works. Crossing fingers.Anyways was cheap so I guess I get what I paid for. Quite happy with it so far considering the price :)
Maybe sony should spend more time chasing this fake stuff rather than trying to prevent us playing wma file ^^ Spent a full hour converting them to mp3 ..

^^Well if the memory stick works for you, then by all means go for it...

I know what you mean about the MP3's..It would be nice to be able to play wma files because they dont take up as much space-and the sound quality would be just as good on the psp...Its the same with videos-They only allow the MP4 format-So you end up spending more time ripping and converting the file than you would to just watch the DVD movie...

Hello just a Newbie reply/?, I also got a 4gb Sony memory stick pro duo off Ebayers and it's doing the half full thing? The packaging looks really good for a fake and then I notice the scan code area says MSX-M4GST on the (Brown, not Blue)packaging but the chip doesn't have the "T" and says "complies Canada"... The packaging also has French with the English writing; could this be a region issue?? Or is this a fake chip? It does say 4.065..bytes and 3.78GB and used 384kb after formatting... I converted a"Simpson" Dvd and it had 8 shows but only five will play, the sixth starts to play then currupt error then I go back and play again and it remembers the spot it left off and plays but then currupt error..ect... I thought I had read somewhere that someone had some how formatted there 4gb in FAT16 and that fixed the error??? Is this possible? I can't get that to come up as a format option?? It seems odd that the "T" is on the packaging scan code but not on the chip like my 1gb but it doesn't have the "Complies Canada" on that one??
Newbie, Vwbill p.s.Also the 4gb Chip only has one little half moon cut-out on the end left side top view but the 1gb has one on each side...

Sounds like a fake to me....As far as formatting to FAT16-that will only work of you have a genuine memory stick, and basically what that does is speed up your read/write times...You can check the memory stick via your psp in the menu by selecting one of the memory stick icons under either MUSIC, VIDEO, or GAME...Hit triangle, and the information sidebar will appear-select with X and it will show your memory stick status...
Total space:
Free Space:
MagicGate:_________<-This should say "supported" if its is a genuine memory stick...If its a fake, it will say "unsupported", "unknown", or it will be just blank...

So if you were wondering why you cant load the memory stick to capacity, thats your problem....Lesson learned I guess...Next time spend the extra money on a memory stick from a reputable merchant, and NOT eBay....

This is a fake it doesn't have the Italic "S"! Also has anyone seen the 8GB for 129$? Not at Buy.com. SanDisk.com doesn't even show a 8GB only Sony?

Thanks for the reply!! It's a faker!!! I ordered one off NewEgger for $54.99plus shipping so 61$ not bad per GB for a 4Gb! I tried to see if local Office Depot(99$ there) would price match, hah!! I also contacted the seller and Ebayer Customer Services.... I could only find 142$ plus ship for the 8gb....and out of stock.... So when you format the stick to FAT16 you get better speed! Sweet! I wonder when they will have a 16GB stick or 160GB, hah!! Like a Nano! Or add Phone(VoP) to the PSP and Desk top Tools like calander, calc, appt. spreadsheet, ect... Then look out I-Phoners....! Thanks again, Newbie Vwbill.
p.s. Does Sony have to let the coding out for the PSP like MS with Explorer? Why do you have to HomeBrew all the apps. WHy wouldn't someone want to do the Apps. like Windows Portable or Speadsheets,ect.. like the games and Movies??? IS it Royalities??

Well thats good...At least you got in contact with your seller-most of the time those sellers dont want anything to do with you after the sale, and they are hoping you wont realize that its fake until well after the transaction takes place...

You got a good deal on that 4GB, and that should definitely be genuine..

I dont know about the 8GB so much-you'll have to look around online for it-Just stay away from eBay though.
