PS2 motherboard/laser compatability

I need to replace the motherboard on my V5 ps2, it will boot up and read the disk but the display is all messed up and sometimes it boots to a BSOD.

So I need to know if there's something I can tell the supplier of the replacement motherboard to look for on the motherboard so it will work with my open face Sanyo laser without problems. A certain date code or serial? I thought maybe the model #'s that end with R might designate that but I've seen posts that suggest the 400C lasers can have this model#. thx
