IM playing rainbow onine my mic goes dead, no problem buy a new1 still my mic dosent work i can hear my friend but he cant hear me, ok the old n new mic dont work tried a different controller wired n wireless dont work? mic both mics dont work, what do i do? (please no stupid comment if u dont want to help just move on) i cannt afford a new 360 i cant send to ms because my firmware is special, seriously what do i do

the reason why i think this important is because i never heard any1 with this problem b4 and it happen to me as far as the member burning comment u need a hobby and or job ur bored hahahaha

agreed; maybe your router ports are messed up and are blocking you or some update from ur internet blocked it.
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present. |

Live uses a few special ports on your router, most routers are set, by default not to allow traffic through those ports for security reasons.
Most routers have a built in firewall; and most don't even advertsie or even mention it on the packaging anymore.
If your router, like many people's is blocking these ports, you will get the exact problem which you have described. I had it too.
You'll need to find instructions on how to go into YOUR router(Every company does it differently) and enable these ports for the 360.
Sending this in won't do you any good. Your 360 hardware isn't the problem.

Handsom im not using a router i have a modem directly connected to the 360 i dont think its the console either bit im lost and looking for advice form smart guys like u handsome
i switched controllers wired n wireless,i purchased a new headset, when i play rainbow it shows that i have a headset on the screen i can hear people just cant talked im sooooooo pissed
any1 who helps me i will pay pal them because i cant afford a 360

serious guys MS is telling me to send it in i called my isp they are telling me all my ports are open for xbox live im really confused any help would be great

First off, your ISP provider doesn't block any ports themselves, so they will always tell you they aren't.
Your cable modem has multiple ports I'm assuming? If this is the case than your modem is a router. Some manufacturers sell it as a combo product.
If you give me the model number, I can get you some information on it.
Like I said, the problem you're describing has all the marks of a port forwarding/triggering issue, not a hardware failure.
Before yu send it or take it anywhere for repair, let me take a look at the brand/model # of your cable modem, to try and identify this for you.

handsome i spoke to my isp provider
1 they told me what ports the block
2 i spoke to micro they told me what ports they use for xbox live
3 i had them on three way they spoke the ports my isp provider block dont match what ports xbox live need so they both are saying we dont know what to do
if u fix this dude there has to b a way i compensate u, im on vacation and i was really looking forward to laying in the bed for a week n playing bxl now i can but it dosent feel the same without mic i will send u my modem info n 10min

handsom i have a webstar modem(model DPX2203 SERIES) it also says cable modem with emta
also handsom ive been using this modem for 1 month with no problems
lastly i do have a surfboard 5100 i believe n my closet that i was using for over a year on xbl but my isp told me to switch to the new modem i have now i hope i gave u enough info

Yeah, I'm getting the info on it now; my mother-in-law uses one of these beastly things. This modem is definitely your problem. I'm just finding how to get into it now.
