Hiyas, Just wondering if anyone knows what the difference is when converting a psx game to psp when it asks you to pic a number for compression? iv read 6 is a good number to put it on and the game i tried it on works fine, but whats the dif if you put it on 1 rather then 9? like how does it affect the actual game?
Sorry if this had been asked b4.

Thanks

i believe it effects the game in speedneess or quality>? but yeah.. 9 is always the best way to go... if it doesnt let you... something pops up and says something.. go with 8..

Well simply put more compression equals smaller file, but there is a catch. The more you compress the longer the loads as it must uncompress on the fly and results in slower loading. Also some games if compressed to much whether they be PSP or PSXPSP if can make a game glitchy and stutter.

GTA series for the PSP is a great example, if you compress the even at 1 it will result in a loss of FPS and make the game glitchy. If done to much the game will not even work. I reccommend if you run into problem's with a game that is compressed before doing it all over again try upping the CPU speed to 333mhz from the recovery menu as it helps sometime's, if not recompress the image. I myself rarely go over 5 as it doesn't make that much of a difference in file size but helps alot in the quality of play. then again I don't worry about space with a 8gb card, I just rip and compress to 5 and it works just fine.

Get PSPForce to rip your games and use PSPISO compressor after ripping and covert to .cso at level5 and place in the ISO folder to save alot of space ;)
