Hi, guys, have been trying to backup MI3, i have used Shrink with ANYDVD. i have also used DVDFAB Platinum / VOBLANKER & FIXVTS.
just backing up the main movie title onto DVD5

Problem is using both methods, towards the end or 3 quarters way thru movie, it locks up. upon looking at the burned disc, there is a clear break in the burn about 10mm in from the outer edge. i assume this is where it is locking up.

i have used a decent Sony media and Verbatim as well with same affect.
any ideas guys?
cheers Neil

Since you have completed the burn and apparently are using good media, then I suspect your burner may be acting up.....

Hi porge2390
What speed are you burning at?
From the way you describe the burned disc might be a drive and/or media problem.
Firmware up to date on drive?

write speed is norm 8x on a 16x disc

i have recently had to do a re-install of windows XP media cent'
which means my drivers will be OLD to say the least. now heres my prob on this issue which you may be able to help.

DVD ROM drive is a Philips DROM6216 now i cannot find a driver (i just googled "philips drom6216 driver download") that works or is recognised
Same with DVD RW Drive
thats a HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4164B
again struggle to find drivers that work or are rcognised.
my system is a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P6701MC running XP sp2 up to date on updates.
i have Nero 7 Premium
DVD fab Platinum
Shrink3.2
Any dvd
Voblanker
Fix vts

The other thing regarding the drivers for these drives is in device manager, the date and driver number are the same for both!

Any ideas

OEM = no frills packaging, just a bare drive...no instructions, mounting hardware etc.
Retail = comes in a nice pretty box you would find in the stores and sometimes includes software and some of the items listed above.

Lite-On, Samsung, Pioneer and LG are leading the pack currently and all can be found for $30-$40 at Newegg or various other places.
