I've got some serious issues with M33. I recently upgraded from 3.40OE-A to 3.52 M33-3. I thought with the third update, most glitches and bugs would be dealt with. The main reason I switched was because of the Sony No-UMD Required and nearly all CXMB's are created specifically for 3.5x M33. So I did. I followed all instructions correctly with no problems. I works fine, but with some serious issues. For starters, it cannot read .jpeg files. It can read .jpg fine, but not .jpeg. The ONLY music file it can read is .mp3 and even then, it's picky with what codec's are used in the compression. It also cannot read any video files. I tried .avi, .mp4, .mpeg, none worked. When in 3.40OE-A, at least it could read high-resolution video and high bit-sampling audio, but this piece of **** can't read anything of higher standard. I convert all my video to the highest quality and audio with high sampling rate. 3.40OE-A can read it. There's at least 2 threads that compare the two and everyone continually drills it into my head that M33 is better. If Dark_Alex was still working for the right side, M33 would be nothing! So here it is, my comparison to M33 and how crappy it is! I'm sure all of you die-hard M33 loyalists are going to yell, wine, *****, or whatever, but face facts, your M33 sucks!!!
There is no excuse NOT to mod! Don't follow the rules, make them!

not a die hard m33 fan just a diehard psp fan... every time i update with m33 i have too reactivate WMA and FLASH players

wtf crazy kid.. you krazy.. m33 dont suckk.. iono bout m33-3 but my m33-2 is by far the best.. and even withhh 3.40oe-a.. u still have to go to recovery and enable flashplayer and/or WMA.. it just was resetted because you got a fresh new c.firmware.. as for videos, music, and jpegs images?? its alllllllllll... ALLLLLLL perfect for me.. you probably just need to format your memory stick.. and redo it. and dont be hatin.. its not like you created a custom firmware.

i no i think m33 is the best. but my psp is bricked but when i had m33 it was the bomb.

For people like me thats on 3.40 OE-A would it work if you use the version changer wouldn't you be able to play higher version games? Dont wanna go off topic but....M33 sux

I give M33 props for picking up were D_A left off and continuing the custom firmware scene but there custom firmwares really do suck. There are not as finetuned and polished as D_A's OE firmwares. I never did custom icons/menus to work with them, never had that problem with OE firmwares. Also I had many of the problems that crazykid had, even after 2 fresh installs.

No but I dont like the fact that they have so many updates. That only shows me that they were rushing and their firmware isnt ready. Im all for updates that add new stuff not work out countless bugs that coulda been advoided if they only worked on it a little while longer.

yea i agree. but since all those updates have came out, all the bugs that were big are fixed....sooo i dont see why m33 is sooo bad for having updates :P

3.40oe-a cant take top menu plugins.... only a couple good ones.. go voer to evolve.. and youll see all the really good ones are for m.XX's all the new style icons and what keeps the psp fresh still.. all in 3.52.... and when new games come out.. hahahh you guys will be upgrading awayyyy

i just upgraded from 3.52m33-2 to 3.52m33-3 and everything works fine for me all my videos work fine and i can view all my pics and as for all the updates even dark alex himself had loads of updates when he first started

I personally am very excited to see what Team Wildc*rd will introduce, there first custom firmware 3.40 LE was a huge step forward in the world of custom firmwares, and the features they have listed for 3.52 LE are numerous.

[peainapod]... that sounds like something to look into.. im alla bout new features.... as for m33, EVERYONE forget about why they have so many versions.. forget about 3.51 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.. thats good they all have something changed.. what if they just dropped it out for the hell of it and wanted that many sequels.. atleast they have 3.52 which is top notch, and now i guess 3.53 which ive never ran into yet.. i bet anything, 3.53 is the place to be at for right now, and also assuming the new LE/'s will be a treat.

Listen DEVINRL I posted my opinion I don't need you to mock me and make smartass comments. Lets tear apart your post. For one you have horrible grammar/proper use of punctuation. Like this "im alla bout new features...." alla bout? How about speaking like a person who isn't mentally handicapped and using proper english? How hard is it to type "I'm all about new features." instead of that waste of page space you call a post. And this "3.53" that is firmware 3.52 update 3, my lack of support in Team M33 stems from their constant updates. Look at Dark_Alex, it was him and 1 other programmer who co-coded the OE firmwares. Two people and the most they ever had was 3 updates. This team M33 has from news posts I've read as many as 7 coders working on there firwmares at any given time and yet they can't get their firmwares to be trouble free when they release them. So next time you reply to me or want to insult me at least do so with proper grammar and punctuation.

I have tried the M33 firmware(s) and I did have trouble with them. Like I said Team M33 can't release a proper custom firmware, Dark_Alex's OE firmwares rarely were updated beyond 2 updates. Yet both M33's custom firmwares already have 3 or more updates apiece, with 3.51 M33 having 7 updates! Dark_Alex's OE firmwares are much more stable than M33's firmwares and until M33 starts using the concept of quality before quantity they will have a very hard time attaining the level of perfection in there custom firmwares that Dark_Alex reached with his OE firmwares.

PeaInAPod, I completely agree with you here. But, if you will reacall, counting all 3 versions if 2.71 SE, there's 8 (2 of which required a complete firmware re-flash). All 3.51 M33 updates: 7. DaX's first and M33's first. I think with time, M33 will be a whole lot better than they are now, with minimal updates, like OE.
However, I'm sticking to M33. I don't really care about music or video, that's what iPods are for.

I also have problems with M33, my homebrew doesn't work with it at all (and before you say anything, my settings in recovery are fine, it should work), emulators are fine however.

okay I just downloaded the 3.52 M33 Easy Installer. Going by your posts I would say that M33 would not be a good choice right? I'm on 3.40 OE-A should I just stay on that?

Some people don't have any problems with M33, try it, if it doesn't work properly then just go back to 3.40 OE-A.
