Hiyaa

Ive recently been trying to fiddle round with GAME IDs for final fantasy 8 and also have had some issues with final fantasy 9 which are now resolved.

Thing is - neither of those game are recognising the old save games i have for them

So i need to be able to change all the details i have for the savesso they match the game ID etc -

Any way to do this?

I have tried researching and have heard CWCheat works but i have no idea how to use it and reading manuals hasnt helped...

can you???!

Please dont use computer language too much because i dont get it.. yeah?

CWcheat does work for stuff like this.

Go back to the firmware you originally saved your file on.

[EDIT: How to install cwcheat:
Download the newest CWCheat (http://cwcheat.consoleworld.org).

Extract CWCHEAT_0_1_9_REVB.rar with a program such as 7-zip or WinRAR.

Open up the CWCHEAT_0_1_9_REVB folder.

Open up the MS_ROOT folder.

Copy the seplugins folder into the root of your memory stick (the root being the first thing you see after you open your PSP on the computer.)

Disconnect your PSP from the computer and restart it in recovery mode.

Go to plugins and enable everything.

Open up your game, wait until it gets passed the PSX logo and then hold select. You should now be in the CWCheat menu.]

After downloading and installing CWCheat on your PSP, open up your game and after it's loaded, hold down SELECT. The CWCheat menu should open and the option to manage memory cards is at the bottom; click on it. From here, click on "save memory card 1 to memory stick" (or card 2 if you have it saved on your second memory card slot). You'll know it worked when it says "Last operation: OK!!" at the bottom.

Go back to the firmware you had in the beginning.

Again open up CWcheat, go to "Manage memory cards" but this time, select "load memory card 1 from memory stick"

(Make sure you never push left or right on the d-pad. If you do, then make sure you push the opposite direction until it says "[YOUR LETTER/# COMINATION]-0.mcr" under "Currently selected memory card file").

Exit CWcheat and then click on load; your data should be there and you will be able to continue playing your game.

Ok you know how you said to go back to the firmware i saved on - is it good enough just to load the game using the same firmware popsloader??

i.e. rather than having to reset my psp to m33 3.51 - can i just load it under 3.51 pops???

ok i have a problem.

There is a file called pops.txt that this program needs to work.

But there is a file called pops.txt that my popsloader needs to work. And unless i can rename them - i cant have them both in the seplugins folder...

EDIT - ok i have solved that particualar prblem - i just had to put both textas in one file.

My problem is though that the game doesnt recognise the save in any firmware. Im not sure why as i have never changed the game id or thename of the save but if there is any way to see all the details of the save and modify the ID it thinks it has etc so it will register with the game it will save me having to play half the game again.

Do you kind of get what i mean? Its hard to put into words

Go into your savedata folder inside of your PSP and figure out the name of the folder that has your final fantasy 8 saves (something like SLUS94163).

Now, open up your Final Fantasy 8 EBOOT.PBP in simple popstation gui and make sure that the save ID is the same as the folder (SLUS 94163, or whatever yours was).

If it's not the same, then change it to be that same and click on GO... It'll patch the EBOOT.PBP for you.

See this is the wierd thing

The SAVE ID and the GAME ID is the same - they always have been - SLES02965 - i know it off by heart ive tried that many times - when i start up final fantasy 9 it just creates a NEW folder with SLES02965PSX written on it - putting the psx on the end to differentiate between the 2 folders.

Its really strange..

Im going to have to start again arent i :(

Just copy everything from your SLES02965 folder into the SLES02965PSX folder and hope for the best.

(You always have the most uncommon problems, Zan. Maybe you should get better karma =Þ)
