VHS/DVD conversion quality

I have done VHS/DVD conversion in the past using CapWiz. Now because I have lost the electric cable, I cannot use it any more and I bought Dazzle.

The quality of DVD's thus obtained is pretty bad, with strippes on the screen. Capwiz cannot recognize the external Dazzle device.

How can I get good quality conversions?
(I use notebook with windows XP)

is it possible the dazzle thinks you input is in the wrong format (NTSC when it should be PAL, or the other way around...) that may explain the quality and stripes...

i may be wrong but its a thought..

I can select the proper format in Dazzle (PAL, NTSC). although I select the right format the quality is poor.
