hi,i used this information to set up my new box today in donabate and am only receiving 60 channels.. a friend in artane has 140 channels..can anyone help to get more channels..both of us are n*l

Done a powerscan with frequencies 291Mhz to 395Mhz with a symbolrate of 6887 and wait. You should get 13 Transponders (TP).The box will then do an autoscan itself and you will see the stations coming in.
Make sure your connections from the cable are good.
The box will auto update from then on.

If you are connected to the next NTL mmds mast you get Ntl mmds.
Try 258 to 386 for the frequency range.

You said you were on true cable. What are you on true or MMDS? You may be missing a TP or two thats all as your area have a lot of base stations if you are on MMDS, so you should be quite close to one. But as said you stated you were on cable.

Not stepping on your toes Mgb but I can get the maximum channels, (143), on N** MMDS. It is Ch**** MMDS that get that amount as that is all they carry compared to N**. As UPC C***** customers have been promised the same amount of channels soon, although seeing is believing.

Its technically not possible to broadcast more than the 94 TV channels via NTL mmds. If you get 143 channels, you get true cable.
Via chorus mmds around 80 TV and radio channels are possible.

Believe me working from an MMDS dish with the downconvertor and power insertor, I do understand the difference between true cable and MMDS. Even the starview can even get the full amount of channels using N** MMDS http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/548231

There are rumors about UPC is planing to upgrade the mmds transmitters but I don't know any area which such an realized upgrade.
TV plus radio plus data channels give around 140 channels.

Only getting the full channels on N** MMDS not on C***** MMDS. As we have all said before, including yourself the issue with C***** MMDS is it utilises DVB-T, N** MMDS uses DVB-C so thats how I can get all channels.

To be honest I have also heard of the UPC MMDS upgrade proposal but as you know with UPC I wouldnt hold my breath on that one. The proposal was based on the fact that C***** customers have complained that they receive less channels than N** customers suppose they have a point.

Are you talking about 143 TV channels or 143 channels entirely.

There is a hardware upgrade needed at the mmds transmitters to offer more TV channels.
Maybe you are based in the first area which such an upgrade.

Honestly I know people on N** MMDS, from the Northside of Dublin to the Southside of Dublin and other cities that get the same amount of channels on N** MMDS. It is not because of a path upgrade that is the truth. Some rural areas have problems but that is due to poor installation planning by N** due to either multipath or freznal zone issues.

For the northside to the southside of Dublin there is only one mmds transmitter needed.
If that transmitter got an upgrade during the last weeks more TV channels are possible.

Only the half side of the ex NTL mmds transmitters were prepared for digital. Without upgrade its not possible to use the whole thing for digital.

OK lets just say I know the "internal" things so I will agree to disagree on this. It is not worth debating a subject matter that we both have different opinions on but everyone I know on N** MMDS has the full channel range and I mean everyone. As I have said above only those areas that are having problems are those that were incorrectly told that it was possible to provide that service to them. There was a LOS survey conducted but incorrectly at that due to both multipath and freznal zone problems.

But I do agree with you that the entire MMDS system requires an upgrade but I am afraid that the financial implications of this may overshadow the consumers wish.
