Alright well to begin with there is nothing suspicious in your HijackThis log. But after doing a bit of googling about this pmnnl.dll it seems that it is a trojan/rootkit. And that would explain why HijackThis missed it. To fix this boot into "Safe Mode" and only Safe Mode; not any of the other types like Safe Mode with Networking,etc.. You do this by hitting either F8, F11, or Delete while booting it depends on the computer. Once you are into safe mode lets disable the system restore function to ensure this nasty program won't restore itself. To do this go to the start menu, right click my computer, and select properties. Now in the resulting window click the System Restore Tab and check the box that says "Turn Off System Restore". After doing this run Spybot and let it do its thing. When it is done reboot in Windows and scan with Spybot again, if it does't detect anything your clean. If it does detect something let me know so we can work it out.

while i was waiting for someone to respond i downloaded a program called vundofix which seemed to fix it for a couple days but now it is doing it again but those files are no longer around. vundofix doesn't find any problems anymore either. I tried to start in safe mode but I get the blue error screen whenever I do that.

Hi,

Look for a c:\vundofix.txt and post that log.

Also, rename hijackthis.exe to scanner.exe and then run and post a new log with the renamed scanner.exe .

Hopefully that will show a next step.
