My PSP has a problem. For some reason it responds as if the analog stick is being held down continuously. As soon as I get into a game that uses the analog stick, the pointer or character will move down. It's as if the down response is stuck. It's not the analog stick that's the problem though cause I ran the PSP without the faceplate on and it still does this..so I think it's an internal error or something. Can anyone help me with this?

I was thinking of selling it on ebay but thought I'd downgrade it to 1.5 first cause I'd get more money that way. When they say not to touch anything when the downgrade is in progress does that include the analog stick? Could moving the analog stick (in my case it's automatically doing it) screw up the downgrade and brick the PSP? Thanks

I'm currently having this same problem with my analog stick. How did you fix yours? I figured I would order a new one and remove the stick totally as well. Right now it's constantly going up and left regardless if the stick is installed or not.

Hey well it started happening as soon as I took the faceplate off. I then put the faceplate back on (but didn't put screws back in yet) and it was still happening and so I thought it must be an internal error with something to do with motherboard or something. I got a bit annoyed and pressed hard on the analog stick while in a game menu and it stopped moving. I released the pressure and it started moving again. So I figured it must have something to do with the pressure that you apply.

I screwed the faceplate back in tight and the problem disappeared. Just to test, I slowly unscrewed the faceplate after and the cursor started moving down again but as soon as I tightened it up again it didn't move.

So all I can suggest you try is to press down hard on the analog stick and see if it won't move and see if you can control it 100%. Make sure your faceplate is screwed in tight.

For me, as long as my faceplate is screwed in tight, applying pressure to the analog stick and metal sensor thing underneath, the analog stick won't move on its own.

Hope this helps your problem. If it doesn't then sorry I don't know what else to do.
