Why will a psp boot up half way then freeze?

Hey guys i have a quetion about someone who's 3.40 OE-A psp starts up then stops half way were it says sony computer entertainment.....so if any1 knowz a way to resolve this prob.. it would be really appreciated.

its a semi-brick
u have 2 solutions:
1.download a backup of flash0 and replace the resource folder(flash0 usb-> vsh-> resource
2. use the recovery

yeah but it's not 4 me...i know u can use the recovery but my friend can't access it....but don't worry...i'll just make him a pandora's battery.

he does say 3.40 OE-A PSP.
so he must have deleted recovery.prx
but pandora's battery makes the PSP alot less scary to flash huh?

yeah...'bout pandora's battry
i know it downgrades but is not the full 1.50 firmware... but can he still upgrade to 3.40 OE-A or r u stuck with the half 1.50 firmware?
