1)3.52 M33-4 (The patch 4 is installed after 3.52 M33)

2)You dont need devhook on CFW

3)Emulate older systems, many are available, GBC, GBA, SNES, N64, Genesis, and many more

4)After you've upgraded, format your stick from the PSP, it will create the folders you need automatically, put ISOs/CSOs in the ms0:/ISO/ folder

5)If you are connected to the et with your PSP then it will probably upgrade, i'd suggest you kill whoever did it... Though, you can get themes that convert that icon into a "Restart PSP" icon, so you can't upgrade with it. You can also go into flash0 and delete the network update file, but that is potentially dangerous (Semi/Full brick)

1 + 2) Same as above

PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

Well make sure the iso has a short name and try enabling No-UMD mode. 3.52 M33 should be able to run most iso's without the need of a UMD.

Your questions for PSP 1...

1) I highly recommend 3.40 OE-A for first time firmware custom firmware users. There is a easy installer available but I can't seem to find it. If you really want it let me know and I will find it on my pc and upload it for you. On the other hand a little more work to use is the M33 firmwares which use the Sony ISO loader which can run any ISO you have.

2)Before Custom firmwares DevHook was used an a 1.5 PSP to emulate firmwares above 1.5 so that iso's requiring higher firmware could be played. It was a ingenious workaround, but there is no longer a need for such as program with the availability of custom firmwares which can are up to version 3.52 thus the games will play on them.

3)Emulators are a program that imitates the functions and features of a piece of hardware all through software. So if you get a SNES or NES emulator you could imitate the functions of a S/NES on your PSP and play S/NES games on your psp. There are tons of emulators some better then others. We can go into them later.

4) There are no contents needed to run iso's on custom firwmare. After upgrading to a custom firwmare format your memorystick from the PSP, it will create a ISO folder your iso's go in that folder.

5) I believe in many if not all custom firmwares the programmers have disabled the WiFi update.

Your questions for PSP 2...

1 and 2) Same as above.

thanks guys...

now the pspz are 3.52 m33-4

finally everything is set and able to play the downloaded iso(s)

now few emulators questions:

1)how do i know which game uses which emulator?

2)where do i get the emulator program and the games

3)are the games that run with the help of the emulators called the homebrew games?

thanx.

1)Emulators are only used for games for old systems, and with individual emulators it is clear what system they emulate.

2)Many emulators can be found at dl.qj.net, we can't tell you where to download ROMs, but just try google. These go in the ms0:/PSP/GAME150 folder.

3)Homebrew games and applications don't use emulators, they are run straight off the firmware, and are usually placed alongside the emulators etc in the ms0:/PSP/GAME150 folder.

@Anabi_Ltd

I find the easiest place to get ROMS is off BitTorrent. Because while some roms of games are offered for free now some are still not available for free download. I have a original Mario Kart for the SNES system but couldn't find the ROM anywere but BitTorrent.

i jave downloaded an emulater called dgen ver.1.70 for the first test purpose

successfully installed the emulater and know how to access it

but then i downloaded a game (mortal kombat) which came in a .gen file

i tried loading the file in the roms folder but cannot access it..

is it because i need to take more steps extracting the real game file or is the file not supported..

some advise please.

I only use sites dedicated to ROMs, there is a site (which cannot be named here) that hosts every single GBA rom, most N64 roms, and lots of SNES and GBC roms.

*cough**private message**cough* Excuse me throat itched.

@Anabi_Ltd

I personally prefer BitTorrent technology because I have grown up with it and am very comfortable using it, everything needed to use BitTorrent is readily available, and it is fairly easy to setup and run with a little know how. Newsgroups offer great speed and decent security but in more cases then not one is required to pay a monthly fee to access to a decent NewsGroup server. But if money isn't a issue then NewsGroups make a compelling alternative.
