since ure new i reccomend u usin the pandoras battery...as you see downgrading has chances of bricking as pandoras battery is MADE for recovering a bricked psp.

the diffrence is that with pandora's battery u can downgrade any version and u will not brick, if u use a regular downgrader there is chance of bricking.

its this the steps?

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Using the USB connection, connect the PSP with the memory card inserted.
2. Format the memory stick. You can use either Windows Explorer to format the disk, or use the PSP "Format Memory Stick"

option
3. Extract the contents of the pandora.zip file to c:\pandora
4. Open a DOS prompt (Start -> Run -> CMD -> )
5. type c: type cd c:\pandora\mspformat
6. type mspformat (in my case W) ???mspformat W???

You should see a prompt like this:

>>> C:psppandoramspformat>mspformat.exe W
>>> You are about to format the drive W.
>>> All data will be lost. Do you want to continue? [Y]

Type "Y".

>>> Y

and you should see

>>> Drive succesfully formatted, and partition moved.

7. Stop the USB connection, and unplug the memory stick (you can leave the cable connected). Seriously REMOVE THE STICK

FROM THE PSP
8. Plug the memory stick back in and reconnect to Windows
9. Manually make the directory on the memory stick for PSP\GAME and PSP\GAME150 (GAME150 for custom firmwares like OE)
10. Copy the two directories for each application into either the GAME or GAME150 directory (for me it was GAME150)
11. Download the official 1.50 FW update from http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=4
12. Extract the update and store it on the root of the MS, named UPDATE.PBP
13. Stop the USB connection and go to the application "Pandora???s Battery Firm. Installer" - this only takes a few moments.
14. ONCE COMPLETED DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP - REMOVE THE MS FROM THE PSP AND POWER THE UNIT DOWN RE-INSERT THE MS AND POWER

THE SYSTEM BACK ON
15. Once completed, start the USB connection to the Windows PC.
16. Copy the file msipl.bin from the MS to c:\pandora\msinst
17. from a DOS prompt (referenced above) do the following
18. type cd c:\pandora\msinst
19. type ???msinst W msipl.bin

You should see a prompt like this. I guarantee that your stuff will be slightly different; it depends on how your computer is

set up, what sort of memory stick you have, and so on. As long as you get the "Are You Sure? [Y]" prompt, you know that the

msipl.bin file is OK.

>>> C:psppandoramsinst>msinst W msipl.bin
>>> PSP MS IPL Installer
>>> Load IPL code msipl.bin
>>> 241664 bytes(59 block) readed
>>>
>>> Target DRIVE is 7
>>> Check partation Sector
>>> boot status 0x80
>>> start head 0x05
>>> start sec/cyl 0x0004
>>> partation type 0x06
>>> last head 0x0F
>>> last sec/cyl 0xB7E0
>>> abs sector 0x00000810
>>> ttl sector 0x000767F0
>>> signature 0xAA55
>>> Check BPB Sector
>>> signature AA55
>>> Check free reserved sector:OK
>>> Write ABS Sector 0x10 to 0x1E7
>>> Are You Sure ?[Y]

Type "Y".

>>> Y

and you should see

>>> Write MS BOOT CODE

21. Now, browse over to the MS under games, and run the application "Pandora's Battery Creator" I recommend backing up the

eeprom of the battery just in case (it???s 1K , you???ve got plenty of space). The steps should be pretty obvious at this point,

if you decide to backup the eeprom, you'll have to re-enter the battery program to update the battery firmware.
22. ONCE COMPLETED DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP - REMOVE THE MS FROM THE PSP AND POWER THE UNIT DOWN RE-INSERT THE MS AND ALSO

REMOVE AND RE-INSERT THE (NOW MODDED) BATTERY. POWER THE SYSTEM BACK ON
23.
24. Congratulation, you are now in posession of a "Magic Memory Stick"
25. and a "JigKick Battery".

You're all set`

ive never seen this set of instructions but its there...ill post the insturctions in the readme: here it is

REQUIREMENTS
- A spare PSP Battery. Any make will do. Using a spare is best, as it
will not be possible to boot the PSP in its normal state with the
modified battery.
- A spare Memory Stick Pro Duo of less than 4Gb. (256Mb should be
enough for all applications).
- A PSP with a Custom Firmware such as OE, M33 or WC, or a PSP with
the 1.5 original kernel.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
- Connect the PSP to the PC with the Memory Stick inside via the USB
Connection.
- Format the Memory Stick using any utility.
- Use mspformat to format the Memory Stick logically.
- Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection.
- Connect the Memory Stick again via the USB connection of the PSP.
- Manually create the PSP/GAME (optionally PSP/GAME150) folders on the
Memory Stick.
- Copy the "battery" and "installer" programs to the PSP/GAME
(optionally PSP/GAME150) folder.
- Copy the 1.50 official updater as UPDATE.PBP to the root of the
Memory Stick.
- Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection.
- Run "installer" through the firmware on the PSP. This application
will create the firmware files on the root of the Memory Stick, as
well as msipl.bin.
- Connect the Memory Stick again via the USB connection of the PSP.
- Execute "msipl" application on the PC with the msipl.bin to write
the IPL to memory stick.
- Remove the Memory Stick and disable the USB connection.
- Execute "battery" application on the PSP to modify the battery.
- Congratulation, you are now in posession of a "Magic Memory Stick"
and a "JigKick Battery".

USAGE
- Insert Memory Stick into the PSP
- Remove power cord and insert the JigKick Battery into the PSP.
- A menu appears when the PSP boots. Follow the onscreen information
and instructions.

NOTES AND RESTRICTIONS
- The firmware in the Memory Stick is not a full 1.50, but a minimal
subset. Therefore, not all applications (such as flashers, or
recovery apps) will load.
- Only Memory Stick Pro Duo are compatible. Memory Stick Duo
(e.g. 32MB sticks) are not supported.
- The IDStorage cannot be totally restored, as there is no known way
to regenerate it properly.
- It is strongly RECOMMENDED to make a flash dump of the PSP before
any downgrading operation.
- There might be a BSOD at the end of the downgrade. This is normal,
and happens on the standard downgraders.
- All hardware revisions known at this day are supported.
- This release contains no Sony-copyrighted material. All required
Sony data is generated from the v1.50 update files.
